Dynamic head movement

Featured Replies

I was spoilt by EZCA and Accufeel. I'm using both since the release and they became something I can't imagine FSX without.

Maybe I'm strange but the completely static VC view in Q400 really bothers me. No head movement, no turbulence, nothing. This is quite noticeable at takeoff and specially at landing. Since we're not in real airplane this feeling of those forces is missing and dynamic head movement is one way to get a little bit of that back. I got so accustomed to DHM and Accufeel effects that flying in Q400 just feels strange to me. I know most people are really enjoying this fantastic bird, I wish I could too.

I'm also using REX Latitude for (among other things) logging my flights and this is also out of the picture with Q400 but this is another story altogether.

I use ezdock with the Q400, the DHM is a little smaller but it is enjoyable enough. Did you turn off DHM or are you using a special profile?

I didn't do anything. So on landing, you're getting the same effects with EZCA like on other airplanes? Because I'm not getting any and I looked at some Youtube videos of Q400 landing and also didn't see any movement. Strange, maybe it's problem on my side than.

I had a disaster of a landing this morning, and let me tell you that cockpit moved!

I get the bumps and shakes in flight as well, not as marked as in other aircraft but enough to notice.

I am using DHM within OPUS, with the Q400 and the movements are fantastic.

There is a small issue with some 'flickers' or 'jumps' when OPUS DHM is activated with the Q400, but it's not serious enough for me to warrant deactivating DHM.

I am using TrackIR as well - so the 'flickers' may be related to Q400+OPUS DHM+TRACKIR use.

OK, than I guess it's the problem on my side. I'll investigate further.

Did you ever use EZCA? I'm hearing a lot about OPUS but since I'm already a happy user of AS2012 and EZCA I just didn't pay much attention. I'm not sure I'd gain anything with switching from those to OPUS.

I have Ezdok and I can't detect any movement at all.

I'm with 0Artur0 in that good head movement from EZdok has become a must-have.  50% say it works, 50% say it doesn't.  :p0129:

Man, would love to know how you get it to work.  I can't get DHM using Opus and the Q400.  At first I thought since the FDE was outside FSX it wouldn't work.  However, since you are successfully using it I am rethinking that.  Perhaps my aging rig just can't handle it.

It really looks it's about 50/50 so there must be a good reason why it works for some and not for others. I doubt it's just an aging rig or something like that. Maybe the guys from OPUS could shed some light on the subject since the EZCA guy is nowhere to be seen. And from answers in Majestic support forum I have a feeling they also have no interest in solving this problem.

I got dynamic head movement from EZDOK when I first flew the Q400 before I had run the config utility and defined camera positions. After I did that I don't get the movements. Not that it bothers me as I only use it for view control and disable DHM and other motion effects.

DHM is working for me also...but I am also getting the occasional flicker and a little more stutter than with other aircraft.
