How would you tell? If there were OOM's that were the result of this number being too small before the change, and there were still OOM's after the change - then the problem wasn't Desktop Heap-related! The higher setting should not be reversed back down!! This is a fix to ensure adequate space so that DH OOM's don't happen.

It was a mistake on MS's part in making the heap too small in Vista (This is only 64 bit version where the mistake was extent, but I can't imagine that many people are presently using 64 bit Vista) and 32 bit Windows. Here's what the "fix" is applicable to:

APPLIES TO
  • Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit Edition
  • Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit Edition
  • Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition
  • Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit Edition
  • Windows Vista Business

Nuttin' to do with DX10, Jewel:

The only files that gets touched are the General10.fx file, maybe the *10.fxh file in the General folder, the Rain.fx/fxh files in the Misc folder - of ShadersHLSL. Anything which doesn't have *10.fx* or .40.fx* is DX9.

Can you post a pic of these blue mountains?

Sorry Paul. Wrong typing. I mean I have this issue with DX9.

I'll use DX10 soon

I found the default color settings (which they were so obvious!)  So I'll fly today and I'll see if the issue solved.

Nothing changed :(  Here the pic. Look at the purple shadow:

Sounds like you're actually talking about the whole "picture" having an overall purple colouring - like this one here, having an overall "yellowish" colouring, and this one, somewhat "orangey".

Am I correct - the problem appears that the whole pic is purple-ish?

Hmm....yea....something like that...Other times turn blue....But what it concerns me more is the shadow. It make so unreal FSX.

Do you know the solution Paul? Is it something to do with sweet fx or REX?

Another thing that I saw is that this happens at a radius around the aircraft.

Stratos Moschos

Yes - Active Sky, REX and SHADE will create this "problem" for you, each having the ability to change the dusk and dawn look and feel to whatever tone you wish to apply. Those settings can be emphasized or exaggerated by SweetFX to the degree that it becomes cartoonish, or overly bright, or a different tone, period.

My best suggestion would be to remove SweetFX for the moment, restore your FSX default textures from REX (you did use REX's backup feature - right?), then create the theme that is most appealing to you, install it, and then play with SweetFX again, if you wish - OK!

All the Best,

pj

OK Paul! I'll give it a try and I'll be back

Thanks!!!

The answer from REX support forum is:

"It's supposed to during dawn and dusk, it's how the SDK handles this. Using ENB, Shade or SweetFX will boost the color as well."

So Paul there is nothing we can do about this...

Stratos Moschos

Sunsets come in all kinds of colours - not just purple, Jewel.

You can pick and choose exactly what you want to see. Just go into REX, click on Textures -> Sky Textures -> Sunset, and look at Dusk Set Oh My, then scroll through the many Dusk Sets - there are all kinds of golden - and other shades - not just purple.

If you don't like REX - Shade will do the same thing and so will Active Sky - OK!

All the Best,

pj
