X-Plane 10 default Scotland

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My first post in here, so I thought I'd say hi and share some pictures of a little trip I had around Scotland yesterday.

It's amazing how well X-Plane 10 can create Scotland; especially without the need for expensive add-ons :P

Frame-rates were first class and what with the wonderful Cessna 185F created by that talented team, Carenado; it just made for one very relaxing and atmospheric flight.

I have posted these at Flightsim.com (my usual home), so, sorry if you've seen them twice :P

All the best, and have a great week

You can have Scotland in even better quality, if you download the HD Mesh version of  it on my website : http://www.alpilotx.net/downloads/x-plane-10-hd-scenery-mesh/

(by the way: an updated version of the HD Mesh scenery - based on more recent OSM data etc. - is planned in the coming 4-8 weeks).

And ground shadows work.

And ground shadows work.

Yes; once you've tasted the eye candy of X-Plane; it's pretty hard to go back to FSX.

Seeing ground shadows that change with the time of day is just fantastic.

There you go Dom. I hope that is what you wanted.

Welcome to Avsim sir.

We always welcome the chance to woo  those who have not fallen in love with us yet!

Kind regards,

Thanks Stephen.

Consider myself wooed  :P

Call me a geek, but in photo #2, the mountain under the left wing is Ben Lui. The mountain behind the left wheel strut is Ben Cruachan and the village on the right is Tyndrum, and you are flying up the valley of Strathfillan.

.... and in the last photo, it looks like you are flying up towards Bridge of Orchy, with Loch Tulla the nearby lake and the Black Mount hills lying behind. Ben Nevis and its distinctive profile can be seen on the horizon

I would guess that you're taking a flight from Glasgow to Inverness.

Hi Anthony,

LOL....you are so right.

Damn....that's good mate :P !!

I was flying the 'circuit' as I call it.  On the bike (cycle) I usually start at Crianlarich or Tyndrum, up to Glen Coe (A82), then Connel to Loch Awe, and finally, back to Tyndrum.

I used to hate that climb just past Loch Tulla; especially when you've got your tent and all your belongings on the back of your bike :P

You should have a look out for a couple of scottish airports.  Oban is here:

http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=11711

There's also Wick, Islay, Kirkwall, Barra & Inverness which are worth downloading.

I've personally turned my hand to making Aberdeen and Insch.

Look them up!
