  1. Maybe not the friendliest, but I guess it's not his job to be friendly. On a positive note, I really enjoy Orbx's version of Scotland!! Great stuff!
  2. Fantastic European buildings! Makes a massive difference. Thanks for all your hard work!! Dom
  3. I've got still got that old copy of FSX on my drive somewhere. Its full of Orbx add-ons which makes a rainbow look colourless. Sometimes I fire it up because it reminds me of my Spectrum 48k days and the loading times which went with it. I even play my Spectrum load sounds in the background. Oh....how it brings back childhood memories..... Once I've finished my Sunday dinner I go and check back on FSX to see if it's loaded. If I'm lucky, I won't get a load error, LOL. Then I'm in and I'm flying. I just love all those scenic views where I can watch trees grow from nothing to a full tree in half a second. Pop....there's one! I was going to get a train simulator, but I thought FSX would do just as well . Actually; don't get me wrong; I'm rather fond of FSX as it has a great deal of 'choice'. That's FSX trump card and it's played it so well for so long. AS2012, Opus, REX and A2A are just some of the great add-ons available. I really do love the A2A aircraft which I've purchased, as they are truly amazing, and some of the Orbx scenery is...in places quite stunning. But..... she is starting to show her age. Sure X-Plane has quite a few glaring omissions; but it really does feel like the better simulator now. Out of the box X-Plane is just amazing! Even something simple like the camera views in X-Plane are a paid add-on for FSX. I really do enjoy both, but as time has progressed, I've found that FSX is taking much much more of a backseat (even with fancy add-ons). I'd always choose two sims over one, but if I had a choice of one it would be X-Plane. Dom
  4. I live in Galloway; Scotland The Scottish scenery created by Orbx is a fair rendition of Scotland and is done well. Can it be improved? Oh yes! How? Well, for one, there are roads missing and some of the water data is off. Is it worth purchasing? In my opinion; yes. England was below average; Scotland on the other hand was done very well.
  5. Being a native Scot; I must say that on the whole I'm very please with Scotland. Yes, there are roads missing, plus rivers and a few other items, but on the whole it's a great product. For the price it's a steal and well worth it. Plus; issues that have been reported in the forums will no doubt be fixed it future patches. Orbx have a good reputation in fixing issues associated with their products. So.......Scotland is miles better than England (worst Orbx product in my opinion) and well worth getting. Looks like a mini Alaska. Happy flying!! Dom
  6. Actually, I'd have to disagree with you on that one (sorry, LOL). I run FSX (Orbx scenery and AS2012 installed) with my mac at maximum settings and it's nothing but superb. The mac is also whisper quiet; has one plug, looks nice and has an incredible screen. They also hold their value very well; so should you choose to upgrade, you'll still get a good price for your old model. I changed to mac seven years ago after using PC's for sixteen years and I'd never go back. True; for the same amount of money you could get a nice PC; probably faster than the mac, but it's just a PC. When you purchase a mac, you get a complete package which just oozes quality. The keyboard, the mouse, the screen; you name it.....it just looks and feels gorgeous; oh and it works. Happy flying!! Dom
  7. Hi guys, As well as this wonderful forum; could I invite users to visit x-plane.flightsim.com There are reviews, interviews and articles and it would be wonderful if you too could add to the forum discussions. The more forums about X-Plane the better. All the best Dom
  8. I don't use ENB, purely because I don't want to add anything else which might make it crash more than what it does already  FSX looks old, and having ENB just adds silicon to an old hag
  9. Try these chaps: http://maxx-xp.hiking-pa.com Dom
  10. Could this be X-Plane Dom
  11. That's great  Good stuff. Dom
  12. The more big places the better. To make X-Plane big though we need multiple hubs, not just one; so walk around and explore other X-Plane forums as well. Dom
  13. X-Plane's default mesh never ceases to amaze me. The first picture is from a webcam I view each morning and evening (yeah yeah, I need a life, LOL) and the second one is from X-Plane. I know it's easy, but where am I? Webcam X-Plane Out of the box, X-Plane is pretty darn good  !! Dom
  14. It should be working; I've just checked.
  15. Er.....shhh.........10% I used the clouds created by Sabach (Clouds Gold Edition) and also Cloud Maxx by John: http://maxx-xp.hiking-pa.com/?page_id=147 Both are excellent. Dom
  16. Great shots there! Yes X-Plane clouds can look amazing. Nice shots of NZ. Here are some shots I posted in a different forum: http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?265742-Murky-flight-at-Queen-Charlotte Dom
  17. Yeah me too! It tells me if my wife is near!! Maybe delete your preferences and then try. Also, if you're using HDR, take that down. In, fact I'd be tempted to take all your graphic settings down and then work your way up. Dom
  18. Hi there, Does it do this with the default aircraft?
  19. Me first me first.......  , LOL. Thank you Pilotbalu. Dom
  20. Thanks mate. They are already part of my custom scenery  Cheers Dom
  21. Hi Anthony, LOL....you are so right. Damn....that's good mate !! I was flying the 'circuit' as I call it. On the bike (cycle) I usually start at Crianlarich or Tyndrum, up to Glen Coe (A82), then Connel to Loch Awe, and finally, back to Tyndrum. I used to hate that climb just past Loch Tulla; especially when you've got your tent and all your belongings on the back of your bike Dom
  22. Thanks Stephen. Consider myself wooed Dom
  23. Don't forget this little Robin too : http://www.xpfrance.com/en/avions It's fantastic!!! Dom
  24. Yes; once you've tasted the eye candy of X-Plane; it's pretty hard to go back to FSX. Seeing ground shadows that change with the time of day is just fantastic.
  25. That's great Andras! Does that mean for places like Darrington in Washington state, which at present seems to be missing the river leading up to Concrete; that it might be included in the recut or your future mesh sceneries? Cheers Dom
