Thai Creations - Mumbai, India is out

Recommended Posts

I like Thai Creations scenery..they are really good..And they make scenery for interesting places many mainstream developers do not.

Their best sceneries IMO are

1) Macao (Just 20-30 kt miles from Kai Tak

2) Kathmandu, Nepal

3) PARO (Bhutan) my fav destination for flying the Aerosoft Airbus A320.

4) Now Mumbai!

Awesome! Mumbai to Dubai

Agree, I have their Macau scenery. It depicts my home town reasonably well.

I have an easy solution for that elevation error.

I just changed the sequence of VABB and VAJJ (that airport is included in Mumbai) in the scenery library. Looks very good now.

Thumbs up for their product lineup. Offering locations like Paro surely had an impact and I hope they keep on doing 'offset' places for us sim flyers to explore. Same as with Pacific Island Sim maybe, I often receive some motivation to fly to far away places just because devs like them offer those at reasonable prices and very good quality.

I also have elevation problems but only when flying into VABB. No problems when loading up the scenery from scratch. Have the scenery ordered correctly and no memory or frames problem. Am also not using third party mesh. Can anyone assist.

I just saw the same thing yesterday...the only thing I could point to as different was I flew in from the SE (ZSAM-VABB) coming in from the side opposite VAJJ. I wonder if approaching from the side opposite might have forced VABB to load before VAJJ...given the need to have VAJJ first in the scenery.cfg, it suggests loading order might be an issue. (?)

I wonder if merging the VABB_X and VAJJ_X folders together might help...

You may be on to something. I was approaching from the same direction and was also flying around dusk. I'll try again from the same direction during midday and see if that makes any difference.

I have the elevation issues also..... really screwed up ground placements and textures as a result.

If you use default terrain, you'll be fine with this but if you use an add-on terrain (I use FS GLOBAL 2010), forget it.

The developer is just not interested in making it compatible with more accurate terrain for the area.

I saw that swapping VABB and VAJJ on the Scenery Library did improve (lessen) the problems but did not resolve them, and I still have bizarre objects and markings all over the taxiways and aprons. :(

So should I buy this as it looks like it has serious issues?

That is a good question. Support from ThaiCreation is very poor.

So I won´t buy again for a while.

I will try what Bob suggests.

Usually, you flatten an area and define an airport and runway elevation and that would be the end of it. Even if you have different terrain for that area I thought.

Playing with the sliders on the settings in FSX (Display) I forget which one...made some differnce

I was going to pick this up but will also hold off until these issues are sorted.

I did a similar flight approaching from the direction opposite to VAJJ during midday now and had no problems. I suspect it may have been the usual problem associated with dusk. Will also try the approach at dusk, this time using an approach over VAJJ

I tried this today coming from Delhi, but that does´t help. Still had the elavation problem.

Tried an approach at dusk overflying VAJJ and experienced the same elevation issues. Oh well, just have to remember not to fly at that time. Also wont be buying anything else from this author again.

I think I finally have things fixed...I had to put in a terrain exclusion with ADE as described in the link in post #15 to get rid of the floating lines, and then I also had to add an exclusion box for taxi signs across the entire airfield, and an exclusion for generic buildings and library objects to get rid of the original terminal building on the V ramp.

Nobody should have to go to these kinds of lengths to make a payware scenery work...I'm with Tim here, no more Thai Creations scenery for me.
