August 21, 201312 yr I will never buy software for my PC worth more than a few bucks or of great value to me that doesn't come with an installer that I can backup. It also must have a permanent license key. If I need to activate on a remote server or can't get either of the above I look elsewhere for what I want. I had a terrible experience with UBIsoft when they upgraded their store. I had purchased a software package from them that I greatly enjoyed and several years layer upgraded my PC. The software needed to be remotely activated and failed to do so even though I still had my license key and installer. I even hung on to all the emails with the details from the online purchase. Armed with all this I was advised that they no longer had records of my purchase due to the upgrade as they changed their online store service provider and advised that I could purchase the software at half price. I was fumed and refused on principle. Eventually they caved as I didn't give up on escalating the matter and they provided a new installer and permanent key. It turns out that they couldn't authenticate my software even if they wanted to because they changed algorithm during the upgrade. Obviously I am in the minority, but I won't support it door as long as I can. If I uphold my end of a license agreement, I expect the other side to do the same.

I am not so sure you are in the minority as far as sentiment is concerned. I agree with everything you stressed, in principle, and in practice as much as I can. Thanks for making your point and making it well.
August 22, 201312 yr Darn the auto spell check on my phone. I meant to close by saying, "... I will not support it for as long as I can...."
August 22, 201312 yr There is more than one type of gaming fellas, and I've never known a succesful business that put all their eggs in one basket. Simple gaming = Tablet/phone Complex casual gaming = Console Very Complex (and time consuming) gaming = PC The market will always be there. Jacob
August 23, 201312 yr I'd add to that: Complex gaming = Android consoles and desktops. It's a matter of time, especially with all the blunders that MS has been making lately.
