Make sure everything is up to date. But atc will give you vectors to the runway, if that includes a star, you'll find out from them.

The thing is, an ILS approach doesn't begin with gs capture, once you are cleared, your vectors are to the ils by default. Always engage LOC first as the approach is precisely stabilized a lot further out and really there's no reason not to use it, unless you're flying a visual obviously.

Tune your radios to the freq you're trying to use. The ` key brings up the ATC window.

It is designed for vatsim but it starts up when you start fsx. Or rather, parts of it do. For me, it syncs fsx to real time for whatever airport I decide to spawn at.

Fsinn switches to real time automatically.

Anyone know if enbseries has the potential to work with DX10? I know there are a lot of things in the pipeline, but enbseries is critical for me to make the switch. Thanks

Technology changes, becomes more reliable, training changes. The way of the world. Ask a pilot from 1940 how to navigate, he'll have some different methods. Redundant systems are always good but I think the "traditional" navigation methods will be redfined over time.
