August 23, 201312 yr Hey everyone, So I've been having a very frustrating problem with FSX. After flying around for a few minutes FSX will randomly crash and it will say FSX has encountered a fatal error and will now close. This will happen randomly without me pressing any buttons etc... What I have tried: 1. The whole UIautomationcore.dll replacement thing. I have downloaded 5 different versions, every one has failed.2. Run in Windows XP compatibility3. Run as admin 4. Complete FSX re install None of these have solved my issue, I understand that this is not a problem with just the 737NGX, however I posted this here since it is the most active flightsim forum that I know of. Any suggestions?
August 23, 201312 yr Author Just to add, I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. Anyway, I have deleted the UIautomationcore.dll from the FSX directory, however it still exists in the windows32/windows64 folders. I can't delete them there since they need premesion. In addition I turned off XP compatibility mode and it is still not working. I just did the tutorial flight from EHAM, it crashed climbing through 7,000 feet. August 23, 201312 yr When I started FSX, I was experiencing the same problem. Sometimes just a few minutes after starting a flight, it would ctd. Checked event viewer and it only indicated that fsx had crashed without saying what specific file/module was causing it. I decided to open up the pc to have a look. Found out I had a bad RAM stick. The heat sink was peeling off. I removed the stick and never had a CTD again. The only time my fsx crash now is if I exit the ngx back to the free flight menu which I hear is normal with the ngx. I have to completely exit the sim using top menu when using the ngx and no crash. Not sure what's causing your fatal error, but just wanted to give you a heads up. You might want to check out your ram just in case. Nature Boy
August 23, 201312 yr Get rid of that XP compatibility mode, check there only "disable visual temes", "disable desktop composition" and "run this program as an administrator". UIautomationcore.dll is ok to be in FSX main folder, this is correct version https://www.dropbox.com/s/adxsx0mxb6wztil/UIAutomationCore.rar Just place it in fsx main folder, don't try to add to registry or something like that. This will fix some other crashes, and will not do anything bad. And don't even think to delete that UIautomationcore.dll from system folders, they are system files and have nothing to do with FSX, but they are necesary. When you installed FSX, have you folowed some guide? Becouse you need to install some Dx and C++ things for FSX to work properly. And to install right version of simconnect, to disable some services, etc. Post your system specification - CPU, GPU, RAM. Do you have FSUIPC? Zeljko Budovic

August 24, 201312 yr Most BEX errors (Buffer_Exception_Overrun) are caused by high fsx settings. It could be a bad tweak in your Fsx.cfg too. This error is quite common (look through this forum and you'll see a lot of similar reports). There is no known "magic bullet" or fix for this type of crash. It has to be investigated and high settings should be your first attempt at fixing this problem. If you rename your fsx.cfg to fsx.orig then restart fsx and let the config rebuild, make some very, very minor adjustments on your settings but try to keep most of them at the default. For instance, you can change the resolution of your monitor in the General tab and make sure AA and AF are checked but leave the Scenery tab alone and the AI settings. Do not place any tweaks in your fsx.cfg but you can add the highmemfix=1 fix in the Graphics section if you want. Then go fly and see if the same problem occurs. If not, it was a tweak or your settings were too high. That will be YOUR solution. For others it might be something else. I see that you have Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 properly installed with the latest updates. Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 did not load but a few addons require this MSV to work properly. The PMDG737NGX uses Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 and that came with the last update to the aircraft. MSV 2010 was loaded in your crash report. MSV's are installed by FSX and FSX addon developers to make sure their application is installed properly as they had intended. They are not backward compatible. The Uiautomationcore.dll is part of the Microsoft.net package and the one's in your system32 and wow64 folders should never be removed. You need to ensure you have Microsoft.net 1.1 thru the lastest 4.5 installed. You can check the versions installed by looking in your C:\Windows\Microsoft.net\Framework\then the versions. You might see installation of the 64 bit versions but those are not needed for FSX or any FSX addon. They were probably installed by some other software on your HDD. There's a nice verification tool you can download and run that will tell you if all of your versions are properly installed - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx. Microsoft.net packages are used by FSX and FSX addon developers to make sure the program runs as they had intended, including memory management. The packages are not backward compatible. Hope this helps. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
