Hi Noel

Thanks for that vote of confidence in Paragon. Guess, I'll have to make a purchase of that seeing that your experiences have been so fruitful.

Good to hear all went well.

So pleased you got it sorted matey, reeeesult! In the meantime, I highly recommend you send an email with a link to this post to Samsung and bring to their attention the 'wonderful' publicity their unenthusiastic approach to customer care has done for their reputation.

Thanks yes I'm glad it was simple and seemed to go as expected. I did a fair amount of research on that particular component of their comprehensive disk management suite--the rest of which I don't really need in any way--and all reports were very favorable. $19.

Hi Noel, good to "see" you again...

So, based on your experiences in cloning into a SSD with an OS, would you say that cloning a separate FSX partition on an existing SSD into a new SSD (leaving the existing OS- Windows 8/64- on the old SSD) would work? I know I will need to assign that same drive letter is the existing FSX partion on the existing SSD has currently- not sure if Paragon takes care of this or if should it in Disk Management.

Thanks- I get to be 62 tomorrow, so am getting a nice new and bigger SSD for my FSX... :)

Thanks, Bruce.

Absolutely brilliant idea, Howard. Will do.

So, based on your experiences in cloning into a SSD with an OS, would you say that cloning a separate FSX partition on an existing SSD into a new SSD (leaving the existing OS- Windows 8/64- on the old SSD) would work?

This particular utility appears to be very much limited to cloning OS's from what I recall in my brief interaction with it which is in part how it is so simple. As soon as you run it it identifies which drives already have a Win OS and therefore which drive you wish to clone from and to. If you need to clone/copy single partitions that don't involve OS' you might be better served w/ their full suite or Acronis though I didn't pay too close attention. I can look again. All I have done w/ this utility so far is clone a 500gb Win 7 SSD w/ FSX + addons installed in one large partition (I think there are actually two for WIn 7, the little System Reserved one and the rest of the drive) to a 500Gb HDD and the drives/partitions appear identical in the destination drive in Disk Management. Since I installed Paragon on a separate Win 7 OS there was no need to change drive letters when I rebooted after the cloning operation.

This is how I've done my builds in the past 10y or so. I dual-boot but from the BIOS BBS not from w/in a Windows Boot Manager. This way the two stay pretty isolated--seems a little less potentially troublesome. I really like one disk containing everything: OS/FSX/Addons. I don't use this install for anything but FSX hence I don't really even need antivirus software running as I don't even surf the web in this boot up. The other Win7 disk I can bloat up and run the odd other game. I can then download files to a mutually accessible data drive. Since I now have a GTX Titan I'm wanting to pick up a game like Farcry 3 or Crysis 3 to see how it performs. Probably will pick up Farcry 3 I think and put that on the 2nd Win 7 drive. No problems, thanks Dazz, w/ activation on the 2nd Win 7 install (same box).

Thanks Noel. Obviously auto-electing the OS partition isn't what I am looking for, so maybe I will go for the full suite. I'll take a look at their site too.

@Rick- thanks :)

It actually identifies each drive that contains an OS then you do the selecting...but you're right I think you need the full suite.
