September 6, 201312 yr Hi all!I recently bought the 777, and I must say its FANTASTIC! BUT! I have been experiencing "lag" on touchdowns with both of the PMDG 777, and the 747. (I dont experience this with the 737 and smaller jets)? By lag I mean that the screen freezes for 1-2 seconds (not a fatal error or something like that) and after those seconds it returns to normal conditions, but after that has occured the landings always feels hard. Soooo I was wondering if there is reason for this on my big-jets or is there some kind of setting which has to be turned off or on? Not sure if this is the case for every airport, but so far i have only landed the 777 in Duabi. September 7, 201312 yr In my case, I have a 0.5~1 second lag(freeze) just before the nose gear contacts ground. I guess this reason is sound file... At 14~15 second, there are little freeze.
September 7, 201312 yr Author I have now deleted the skidmark effect, so im just hoping that the problem is gone  But I dont have time for any testing this weekend, so the testing has to wait for awhile -_- Thanks for replying @DOGANG KIM. I dont have the same problem as you do, mine freezes once the rear landing gear touch the runway
September 7, 201312 yr So finally which file do we have to remove to get this problem solved ? fx_skidmark.fx from "effects" folder which is located in main fsx folder. You can still get touchdown lag if you don't have a soundcard Zeljko Budovic

September 7, 201312 yr Author Thanks ! what do you mean I can still get touchdown lag if I do not have a soundcard ? I believe he means that we have a ###### soundcard, and therefor we need to buy a bettter one (soundcard) :( I read somewhere mentioned a "PCI soundcard" its not that expencive so I think I`ll buy one someday in the future. :Rolling Eyes:
September 7, 201312 yr that's right, i can't say for sure - but other simmers with good sound cards don't have this issue. I can tell more about this next month, after i buy sound card Zeljko Budovic
September 7, 201312 yr I can confirm that I have renamed the skidmark.fx file and have a dedicated sound card- no freeze at touchdown. In fact, if relying on A/T which does not go to ilde until 20 RA, it is very important to have small yoke movements on short final, to allow sufficient airspeed decay so that you don't float. You renamed it to what? Or did you just simply delete it like I just did?
September 7, 201312 yr I added .BAK. You could do the same, or move it somewhere safe (you will probably never want it back anyhow). Best- Carl Avari-Cooper
September 7, 201312 yr You renamed it to what? Or did you just simply delete it like I just did? You can just simply delete, although if you want the file back you're screwed! By renaming the file e.g. BACKUP_skidmark.fx or by renaming the extension skidmark.fx.bak, the file simply has to be renamed to its former glory to be back in use. Jaime Boyle
September 7, 201312 yr Author I have not deleted it completly, its still in the "trashcan". Im not sure whats the name of it in the English version of windows. So i can just simply just replace it, but I didnt understand, should I remove it or rename it? I got a little confused
