What FPS can I expect?

Featured Replies

Hello

I am thinking about getting the T7, but I am not sure about the FPS. I know that t he beta testers said that the T7 will have better frames that the NGX, but some posts have said otherwise. I have the NGX, and can get about 20-25 at a Non-addon airport. I have high settings, except on traffic. Could anyone who has the same system, or someone who might know tell me the kind of frames I might get?

Quad Intel Core i5-3350p @ 3.10Ghz

10GB Ram

Nvidia GT520

Thanks for the help.

Do a search, lots of FPS threads containing performance information from other customers. I even think there is a poll. :-)

I have mine locked at 35 and I am usually between 25-35 in dense scenery.

Terminal Reality Fly 1 and 2. Sierra Pro Pilot, Looking Glass/Eidos/Electronic Arts Flight Unlimited I, II and III, Laminar Research X-Plane 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, FS Aerofly 2, Lockheed Martin Perpar3D 2.X, 3.X, 4.X and 5.X and Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020). Not to mention numerous combat simulators and games related to flight that I have played with over the years.

There's really no way for us to say for sure what you're going to get.

Your CPU is decent but you can't overclock it because it isn't a "K" series chip. Still should be ok though.

Plenty of RAM

Your GPU is weak - GT520 is a low end card. You may have some performance issues stemming from that.

Thanks for the ideas! Hoping to get the T7 soon!

FSX can't use that much of RAM, why 777 needs so much RAM in Recommended System Spec?

FPS far worse than NGX and 747X/MD11. By far. I don't get why people always make this claim after each new release "oh the frames are better than the previous airplane! Nope. Sorry. Never happened. Each airplane is progressively worse on frames, the 747 then the MD then the NGX and now the 777. Obviously the new airplane is much more complicated and the loss of frames is worth it, but lets be honest here.

Sorry to contradict David but I am getting a good 15-20% better with the 777 with similar Performance options set to my NGX. Obviously such things are always system specific but I have been delighted with the performance. I do realise it's not the same for everyone but it does illustrate that PMDG weren't necessarily making false claims.

Ok let me rephrase that then. On my system, running full sliders, 1080p resolution, the NGX is worse than the 747 and MD, and the 777 is worse than all 3. Not by a lot, but the system load is so much heavier with larger vas usage and less overall framerates.

I'm getting slightly better fps on the 777 but higher VAS usage. Don't know how that works, but it is what it is.

Havn't hit "record" on fraps with it yet though, that will be scary :P

The framerate in the 777 is higher as long as you aren't in a complicated airport with cloudy weather and lots of AI. Once you bring in a lot of other elements the higher vas usage of the 777 translates into worse framerates. Everything smoothed out framerate wise in cruise with the NGX but this 777 gives me heavy frames in all areas of flight, especially cruise.

Thats explain my landing in Paris yesterday from Dubai with lower fps than expected. Loading a safe flight afterwards and everything was smooth and FPS back up.
