777 takes off after slewing

Featured Replies

So I was sitting at the gate in CYYZ in a position where it was basically impossible to use the pushback function. I usually end up having to slew myself out of the gate and fake the pushback. Problem is, as soon as I exited slew mode the 777 took off and pretty much ruined the flight. I know this has been a constant problem in FSX for lots of add-ons, but I can't remember what the solution is. Anyone else experiencing this have a solution?

Just a wild guess but is it possible the airplane came up off the ground a little? I think if you exit slew or otherwise move the plane so that it's off the ground then it will immediately switch to powered flight. You might try slewing downward to make sure you're on the ground before exiting slew mode.

To slew, Press Y and then move the aircraft using Joystick or numpad keys.

To finish slew Press F1 to place the aircraft on the ground, then press Y to toggle slew off.

What happens is when an aircraft is heavy, it "sinks" onto it's suspension a bit. When you go into slew, it goes back to it's totally empty weight position slightly higher. This effectively makes it float a few inches above the ground. When you un-slew, the extra height means it's airborne.

Slew sees an airborne aircraft as something that needs to be going 200kts.

Update on this. It's still happening even after tapping F1 a million times.

Am I really the only one seeing this issue?

I'm certainly not seeing it.

So I see you're hitting F1, but is your aircraft 100% stationary when you exit slew mode?

Yup, 100% stationary.

Used f4 then f1 as that sorted it for me

I've noticed this as well, at Dubai. Pressed F4 to purposely launch into the air then F1 firmly plant the aircraft on the ground. Once I pressed Y to unslew, I found myself doing 300 knots along the ground...

Consider GSX, no need to fake the pushback, and it's "realistic."

I had this issue as well, I overcame it by hitting pause then turning off slew and un-pausing.

Or the PMDG pushback from the FMS, or even Shift+P and press number 1 or 2 (KEYpad not numpad) when you're a fuselage length from where you want to turn (hard to do from the cockpit :P )

But yea, GSX is the best way.
