September 11, 201312 yr Hello When on final and I disconnect the autopilot I get the normal warning telling me that it has been disconnected but when I press the caution button to cancel it the light will disappear but the AP sound horn will keep making a noise, which is annoying. Am I doing something wrong? even when J put the A/P switch/bar back up the sound still plays.
September 11, 201312 yr However, even following the instructions in the Instruction Manual, page 37 may not work. It's been my experience on several occasions that, in fact, once the alarm sounds, the only way to shut it off is to reboot the FSX. Pressing the AP disconnect button, waiting a few seconds, or a few more seconds, or a few few more seconds, or a half a minute, or a minute, still won't shut the alarm off. This is with the 'Resettable Siren' set to 'Yes'. (Menu / PMDG Setup / Aircraft / Equipment / Page 9/9) Dennis Bergen

What AP disconnect button are you pressing, just so it's clear...? This is with the 'Resettable Siren' set to 'Yes'. Resettable Siren is related, but not. That option is for being able to press the attention getter to silence the alarm. Are you saying even that isn't working to silence the alarm? Kyle Rodgers
September 11, 201312 yr I'm pressing the 'Z' Button. That is the button it is configured to. Yes, as well, my attention getter alarm will not shut off neither as a matter of fact. Dennis Bergen
September 11, 201312 yr Commercial Member I'm pressing the 'Z' Button. That is the button it is configured to. It's actually CTRL + Z, I think. The intro manual has a typo in it. Check your PMDG SETUP > KEY COMMANDS and try that. Yes, as well, my attention getter alarm will not shut off neither as a matter of fact. Are you loading from the Cold and Dark panel state? Kyle Rodgers
September 11, 201312 yr My AP is 'Z', my Alt Hold uses the 'Ctlr Z' and I don't use the Cold and Dark panel state yet. It seems that once I get a wailer or siren, I'm stuck with it until I shutdown my FSX. lol Only five more hours to go on this flight. I set my alarm volume to 10. Dennis Bergen
September 11, 201312 yr Z is probably assigned to the MCP hard disconnect. You need to use SHIFT+CTRL+Z (I think) for soft disconnect or change it in in the PMDG key commands. If you dont change it you need to use SHIFT+CTRL+Z twice -once to disconnect again after a second or so to silence the alarm. Autothrottle is similar. Regards Howard H D Isaacs
September 11, 201312 yr Kyle, I have this too. Using 'Z' to disconnect upon touch-down, then waiting a few seconds for the 2nd press. It then silences that siren, which in the PMDG-Key commands is set as per one or two posters here, but then almost instantly that siren kicks in again. A tad annoying trying to concentrate on the roll-out, flaps, lights, etc and then to have this screeching alarm going, which goes off just momentarily but then comes back. Gave up on Cold 'n Dark, using Short. This would be a very interesting thread to follow. Rick Almeida

Part of the reason I said to check the PMDG SETUP > KEY COMMANDS it to see what the AP DISCO command is tied to. Use whatever is listed there. I would avoid using Z unless you kill the default FSX Z autopilot toggle, because that could be messing it up. Kyle, I have this too. Remember that the default FSX command is Z as well. That command is a toggle: If AP is OFF, turn it ON. If AP is ON, turn it OFF. As such, hitting Z turns it off, and hitting it again turns it off. Then, when you manipulate the yoke, it kicks it off again, and the alarm sounds as it's supposed to when the AP manually overridden. Ensure that you're using whatever button is listed in the PMDG SETUP > KEY COMMANDS list, and ensure that it does not conflict with the default FSX AP toggle. Kyle Rodgers
September 11, 201312 yr PMDG Setup > Options > Key Commands > Autoflight Page 7/7 Disengage Bar has no keys set, A/P Disengage Switch is 'Z', I have a wailer and siren sounding right now. I tried CTRL+SHIFT+Z and still have the alarm. Then I changed the 'Z' key to CTRL+SHIFT+Z and give that a try but it doesn't shut down the alarm. I thought I had read somewhere that if we use the A/P Disengage Bar we would get the alarm sounding all the time but I made sure not to use the A/P Disengage Bar. I'm not sure what you mean by 'hard disconnect'. Dennis Bergen

Do not use Z if you have Z set as the default FSX command as well. I tried CTRL+SHIFT+Z and still have the alarm. Then I changed the 'Z' key to CTRL+SHIFT+Z and give that a try but it doesn't shut down the alarm. You didn't answer my question from earlier: Did you load from the Cold and Dark panel state? I thought I had read somewhere that if we use the A/P Disengage Bar we would get the alarm sounding all the time but I made sure not to use the A/P Disengage Bar. Correct. If you use the disengage bar, it will sound until you put the bar back up. Kyle Rodgers
September 11, 201312 yr I went into the FSX button/Keys and changed the Auto Pilot Master from 'Z' to 'CTRL J' Interestingly though, I went it to the FSX button/keys right after to check and saw that there was again a Autopilot Master (On/Off) CTRL J, as well as an Autopilot Master (On/Off) CTRL+SHIFT+Z hmmmm Dennis Bergen

Delete one and set the other back to Z. (or delete them both). Then go to the PMDG SETUP > KEY COMMANDS menu and set the AP DISCONNECT (it's on the very last page of the section) to CTRL+SHIFT+Z. September 11, 201312 yr I deleted the FSX A/P Master with the CTRL+SHIFT+J and I see it's finally gone. Just the CTRL+J is there now. The A/P disconnects on the first click and the warning light goes out on the second click. I still have the wailer/siren. Dennis Bergen
