September 11, 201312 yr Commercial Member I still have the wailer/siren. Again: Have you started with a cold and dark panel state? Kyle Rodgers
September 11, 201312 yr CTRL+SHIFT+Z is now what I have set in the PMDG section. A/P disconnects on first click, warning light extinguishes on the second click. Still have the wailer/siren. I start with the engines running state. Dennis Bergen
September 11, 201312 yr Commercial Member CTRL+SHIFT+Z is now what I have set in the PMDG section. A/P disconnects on first click, warning light extinguishes on the second click. Still have the wailer/siren. I start with the engines running state. Yes, I saw that. Are you loading your flight from the cold and dark panel state? Kyle Rodgers
September 11, 201312 yr I don't recall using the cold and dark. I start with engines running, turn fuel control switches off. No cold and dark state. Dennis Bergen
September 11, 201312 yr Since I have a similar issue I wanted to add to this. These have been cold and dark flights. I also saved a different setup that was based on cold and dark with just a few changes. When I disengage the AP I still have a siren going off. I have resetable siren on. I use the button on the yoke. As instructed, I press once to disengage and then once more to shut the siren off... On the second press the master caution clears, there is nothing on the center mfd, yet the siren is still going. I have also tried right clicking the screw at the bottom left of the mcp, as well as left and middle clicking just to check. I have tried pressing ctrl shift Z, and just Z to turn it off. I don't believe I have had this in the default panel state, though I will confirm later today. I also would like to add that with this issue, I have also not been able to clear the yellow caution light. Pressing it does not clear, and I have not seen any other indications to what the warning is in the cockpit, like a message on the center mfd. Andrew Payne KPHX
September 11, 201312 yr I have now left Z as the disengage, put "Resettable Siren" to YES and clicking the Master Caution button does then silence it. I don't use C & D. Bill Casey
September 11, 201312 yr Andrew Like you I too was getting that Caution Light come on and stay on in the PAX version. I then switched to the FedEx freighter version, that Caution light was there at the very pre-flight start, but thereafter, it extinguished(see attach), so wonder is it something that just appertains to the Pax version? Rick Almeida
September 11, 201312 yr Rick, I have only been flying the standard FedEx paint. I have yet to fly any Pax variants. In my instances, the caution light usually is Lit by something which I can see, Butt as I clear the caution, the message goes away and the light is still lit. I have also gotten a caution and not seen a message, where pressing the button still does not remove the light. I have also tried hitting recall, but to be honest I am not entirely sure that is what I should be doing in the first place. Andrew Payne KPHX
September 11, 201312 yr Andrew As you can see from that pic, I'm currently in descent into EGLL. As soon as I load another flight, this time with a pax version, I'll see if that Caution light still stays on and refer to my changelog to see what it is that I did or altered to extinguish it. Meanwhile, I hope you have better luck resolving it. Rick Almeida
September 11, 201312 yr Hi Kyle As recommended by you, mapped a different keyboard key to the default 'Z' key for the A/P disconnect/connect, and chose 'C' instead as trying to manage Ctrl+Shift+Z when trying to clean-up after a landing would be far too many key presses. And I still had that siren wailing away, and moreover, the AP button would not extinguish( I lost the screenshot). What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your input. Rick Almeida
September 11, 201312 yr Hello When on final and I disconnect the autopilot I get the normal warning telling me that it has been disconnected but when I press the caution button to cancel it the light will disappear but the AP sound horn will keep making a noise, which is annoying. Am I doing something wrong? even when J put the A/P switch/bar back up the sound still plays. Hi James, i dont know if the problem is fixed in the meantime but i think i know what you are doeing wrong. Are you disconnecting the A/P via the Disconnect bar on the MCP? If you are doeing so, this is wrong. The A/P disconnect bar located on the MCP is only used for non-normal procedures. A/P disconnect in normal operations should be done via the disconnect button on the Yoke, right nerby the trim switches. (black botton)! press one time for A/P disconnect and a second time to deactivate aural warning. hope this helps! regards Chris (B777 F/O)
September 11, 201312 yr Chris (B777 F/O) Thanks for that tip Chris. AM about to launch another flight, so will try that tip. Rick Almeida
September 11, 201312 yr I finished my cargo flight. Rebooted comp. Did a short cargo flight and still have the alarm remaining on. FSX set to 'Z' PMDG set to CTRL+SHIFT+Z, Resettable siren YES, AP DISC Warning WAILER, Used CTRL+SHIFT+Z twice, used my joystick button twice, Right clicked the shortcut screw twice. The second clicks were after the 1 1/2 seconds. I did this several times. I did not use the AP Disengage Bar. No joystick or other settings in my registered FSUIPC4. I'm going to try a short passenger flight now after another comp reboot.. Actually, when I rebooted the comp and loaded a Px 777, I just clicked the A/P. Let it sit for about five seconds and then I disconnected it. Same settings as my previous post. Same result. Wailer stays sounding. Reset the AP DISC Warning to Siren and now they're both sounding and won't shut off. Hehehe I don't really wish to uninstall and then reinstall but I just may have to do that. Darn. Dennis Bergen
September 12, 201312 yr Ok, for what it's worth, here are my settings which work perfectly and always have (MD-11, 737, now 777) Pressing button 4 on my joystick presses the AP Disconnect button on the yoke. It does not engage the AP. Same with button 3 and the AT. Steve Caffey
