November 24, 200421 yr Any comments on which to choose?Any experience with either one?Are they pretty much the same? Quite different?Let us comment. Regards, Marcelo Santiago, ChilePosted on Wednesday Nov. 24, 09:45am EST
November 24, 200421 yr Moderator Marcelo,I actually own both, with the main difference being that Eurowings ATR was originally for FS2002 (so it's about 2 years old, but don't quote me on the age though) and the Flight1 ATR for FS2004.Hands down, if you own FS2004 you would want to get the Flight1 ATR. I found it to be my favorite aircraft, the model looks beautiful, the flight modeling is superb and the systems are something else ;-)Lot of stuff to learn though but it is a joy to handfly non-precision approaches (my favorites). Go to the ATR forum if you want to learn more, you'll be able to get some input from real ATR drivers and top-notch support on top of that. Here's a direct link: http://atr.flight1.net/forums/Hope this helps,Petehttp://members.aol.com/pzsoulman/myhomepage/logo.gifAMD64-3400,1GB/2700DDRAM,WinXP(SP2),DirectX9.0c,Geforce6800(128MB)(Det.66.81), CH Yoke/Pedals I9-13900K, RTX 4090, DR5-6000MHZ, CORSAIR ICUE H150I ELITE, ASUS PRIME Z790-P, THERMALTAKE TOUGHPOWER GF3 1350W, WIN 11
November 24, 200421 yr I'm pretty happy with the Flight 1 ATR. BUT, in recent days, I've seen some really good FREEWARE ATR's and panels here that rival the payware. If I had to do it again before I purcahased, I'd have to give this freeware some real consideration!
November 24, 200421 yr hmm, I seriously doubt that. The graphics might look similar (after all, how many different ATR cockpits are there) but the functionality will be seriously lacking in those freeware releases.Unless they've stolen the Flight1 gauges and graphics of course, but then still you'd be missing out on the F1 model with its magnificent virtual cockpit, sounds, etc. etc.
November 24, 200421 yr The EW product is old. It's originally an FS2000 model modified for FS2002 and patched up for FS2004.It uses the Dreamfleet 737 FMC rather than the model that's included in the real ATR which is modelled faithfully (and with a lot of blood sweat and tears) by Hans Hartmann. It also lacks quite a few of the other advanced features of the F1 model which was created in cooperation with EADS/ATR themselves who signed off on it before it was released.
November 24, 200421 yr I agree with the comments favoring Flight1, and also with the opinion that no freeware product comes close. Added to that, Flight1 is known for outstanding support, and their purchase "wrapper" makes purchase nearly painless. What impressed me in the buildup to Flight1's product is that they solicited ATR's input in the production of the product. You can also rest assured if something doesn't work, or doesn't look right, they will fix it. They aren't a "sell it and forget it" outfit. All that I've said is based on experience with Flight1--I don't have the ATR itself as it came out nearly in tandem with Eaglesoft's CJ-1. I try to wait at least two months between payware purchases so I don't become guilty of the "purchase and ignore" syndrome :)But I have so many of their other products, that I can recommend a product based on user feedback and Flight1's own presentation of the product. They never "overhype" their products.I can't comment on Eurowings, but it has been around for a lot longer--thus it will suffer (through no fault of its own) from the absence of the technology learned that the Flight1 product will include.-John
November 24, 200421 yr I guess this is a very easy question to answer. Unless you have very specific requirements such as "I don't fly an addon unless it's made by Eurowings", you should go with the flight1 ATR.Regarding freeware, I gave that up a long time ago. I think a good model is relatively easy to make but not panels. Even half of the payware panels are not good enough as they are. The only freeware I ever came across that had very nice panel is the An-24...but everything is in Russian. :(Jason JasonFAA CPL SEL MEL IR CFI-I MEI AGI
November 24, 200421 yr If you want the best flying experience you ever had in FS get the Flight 1 ATR. If not, buy the other one.
November 24, 200421 yr >I'm pretty happy with the Flight 1 ATR. BUT, in recent days,>I've seen some really good FREEWARE ATR's and panels here that>rival the payware. I think you must be kidding. What is it you are after? Is it the external model only or are you interested in realistic systems modeling as well? For me there is no competition to the Flight 1 plane when it comes to the ATR.Cheers,Henri

November 24, 200421 yr >Are they pretty much the same? Quite different? There is an ocean of difference between them.I just mention one aspect - Eurowings' ATR had in my (and some ATR piots) opinion unaccaptable flight model. The ATR by Flight1 is superb as far as flight dynamics are concerned. Interestingly both flight models were done by the same guy - Alexander Metzger but clearly he did his homework when he redid it for Flight1.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
November 25, 200421 yr Sin duda, el ATR de Flight1 es el mejor (si tiene FS2004). November 25, 200421 yr Commercial Member If I recall correctly - Hans did the gauges for the Eurowings ATR as well as the new one - obviously the new one is gonna be waaay better - they had the actual ATR company on board for it etc. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
