October 1, 201312 yr Mulally is now 68 years old. I somehow doubt that he would be interested in taking on the overhaul that is needed at MS. january
October 1, 201312 yr No way we do not need someone to run Microsoft that almost drove ford almost into bankruptcy. Mulally has been the president and CEO of Ford Motor for seven years, and had been widely credited with guiding the automobile maker through the 2008-2009 industry crisis when the other two of the Big Three -- General Motors and Chrysler -- went bankrupt and required government bailouts to survive. http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9242827/Ford_chief_Alan_Mulally_climbs_to_No._2_on_Microsoft_CEO_betting_line Gerry Howard
October 1, 201312 yr Mullay was under poltical pressure not to accept a bailout because if they had would of been no bailout. Most foreign manufactures build cars in Alabama, Tennesesee, South Carolina, Kentucky they are right to work no UAW thug to deal with. Get young google executive to run microsoft not a soviet style bearucrat. Investors will dunp M$ if they picked mulley. Heck, Nardi that tried to fix Dodge would be better choice as he was trying to save the company and job. Alan Mulley during the bailout did nothing at all let marketing people run ford.

Mulally foresaw the economic downturn that was coming and took out a $20B dollar loan prior to the economic collapse. Ford didn't need a bailout simply because of that. Are you saying Mulally wasn't trying to save the company and jobs? What kind of assessment is that? Investors will dump M$ if they pick Mulally? Seems just about every investor news source disagrees with that statement, including M$ itself. You seem rather opinionated about him even though you clearly don't know anything about Ford or Mulally.
October 1, 201312 yr Don't know about Mulally, but there seems to be some buzz about Terry Myerson taking over the OS and the idea this might be good for Windows 9. scott s. .
October 2, 201312 yr The CEO position might soon not be the only one Microsoft is looking to fill. http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/10/01/us-microsoft-gates-investors-idUSBRE9901H320131001
October 2, 201312 yr Comsumers never know what they want its company job to show them what they want. Rather have Steve Jobs take over Microsoft than Ex CEO of Ford that will continue status quo. Microsoft needs to change or end up like GM or Dodge.
