Problem with colours in FSX

Featured Replies

I would appreciate help with this problem, I experienced for the first time today.

I am running FSX Sp2, my rig has 16Gb of DDR3 RAM, and the display card is a , Nvida 660 TI boost. No problem with video display in other programs.

When I started FSX this evening, Everything was normal, except for the

colours it displayed, it started in 16bit and not 32. I went in settings display,

changed it back.to the normal 1920x1280 32 colours, which I use. restarted

FSX, same problem.. Tried 3 times.

Any simmers experienced this and if you have what did you do to fix problem.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Kalibra.

Check your computer desktop's display resolution setting.  Sounds like that may be set at 16 bit colors.

Hi Familyman

I checked that and it is set to 32 bit colour, and resolution is 1920x1280,

so that is not the problem. All other programs run just fine it is only FSX.

Just guessing...try deleting your video card from fsx.cfg and restarting.

Delete all this:

[DISPLAY.Device.your card

Mode=

Anisotropic=

AntiAlias=

That did not work, so I removed FSX and all add on's, and like all flt simmers

reinstalled everything from scratch. All went well until I installed EZDOK, then the problem happened again, so uninstalled EZDOK, video, display returned to true 32 bit colour.

So I think it is EZDOK that is the problem will contact their support and

hope they have a solution..

Thanks thefamilyman and gobz for sending their suggestions

Peasmarsh while you are waiting... what exactly are the colour distortions you are seeing.

I had a similar issue a few months ago; it was especially noticeable at night.  My solution was to get the right drivers for the screen, instead of the plug and play windows drivers.  The strange thing is that I can't remember ever doing this before.

Cheers

Hi peasmarsh.

Yes a screenshot would be good.

With FSX is up and running just press the V key.

Every time you press you will get a separate screenshot.

The screenshot is saved a BMP file.

If you're using Windows 7 the screenshot file is located at C:Users/"Your user name"/My Pictures/Flight Simulator X Files.

or probable just your "Pictures/Flight Simulator X Files" folder

At your screen resolution the file size is going to be big.

Avsim here has an individual file size upload limit of 4 MB so you will have to reduce it down.

You can do this with the windows Paint program.

Right click on the screenshot file and select "Open With-Paint".

Once open in Paint just re-save the file as a JPG file.

The file size should then be well below the 4MB limit.

When it comes to posting, just click the "More Reply Options" button at the bottom right of the Avsim forum page.

Here you can post as normal but also attach the screenshot by clicking the Browse button on the lower left of the page

and navigating to your screenshot file.

You then have to click the "Attach This File" button to get the attachment to upload.

Add your comments in the text box and hit the Add Reply button as normal.

or if your using  w7   just go down to your  start menu type in" snip "  use  the right mouse  to scroll around the picture you want  taken  than save the pic   and  that's it  no need  to edit or  go to paint  its already in the correct format   for  the forum (Learnt  this quick tip from the master  himself  Kyle;)  )

Could be the video card itself is shot

DId you recently move your PC, The card may not be seated on the MB properly

Take out the card and replace it with another
