Froogle agrees XP is the future. And....

Recommended Posts

Thank you Brazen, just wait until the DSF recuts come out......Im planning another update to UM that will extend it even further....trust!

Yes ... the HD Mesh Scenery v2 rendering is churning along ... slowly but steadily (there was also little hiccup in the last days with some processing bugs ... which are now fixed, and hopefully no new ones come up).

And by the way ... yes, I communicated with Froogle too, pointing him to my "offerings" ...

I have to get UrbanMAXX then :-/

It'll be my first payware scenery / enhancement add-on for X-Plane!

Will report back...

Important question: Is UrbanMAXX compatible with the Europe OSM-only scenery? Should I use the OSM + Autogen version instead?

What about photo scenery I have for some towns around here? Lisbon, for instance, is one I have covered by ZL17 photo scenery.

What exactly will UrbanMAXX do?

Sorry... I lose my time in the flight dynamics room, and never look around most of the time  ( there are no windows there :-/ )

EDIT: Just bought it!!! Wasn't even aware it was such an inexpensive add-on!!!!  Will rush home to try this one and report back ;-)

You won't be dissapointed. I would suggest also googling SkymaxxPro, It is damn near REX OD for FSX. Its not released yet, (john, Hint Hint) it will change the look of X-Plane 10 as we know it.

This ^^^^^^^^, is amazing. I also cant believe this is free. Not to mention his forest and farms fixes along with New Zeland Pro. I have all his HD Meshes and they are a very big part of my regular Twitch.TV live streams.

You would be amazed at the amount of time I have people ask if what they were seeing was FSX and FTX global. And the #####'s I get when I say this is X-Plane 10. I love it!

Yes it certainly was.

But it looks like a few devs have responded positively which is good to see, and was the purpose of opening threads on a few different sites.

Thanks again to the devs that responded and now the ball is firmly in Froogle's court to go do something with the freebies he's got and show what XPlane can do.

Scotch,

Here is were I am going to disagree with you. There is nothing Free about what Froogle has gotten. He now has to work and use the product to give a fair and objective review for the products that are being provided to him.

Dan Klaue's comment at the org was spot on. If your advertizing budget can't support distribution of (free) review samples, you're in the wrong business (IMO).

I think two things need to end before x-plane can become the mainstream

1. the .org vs. non .org add-on's BS and  division between the userbases

2. The screw the FSX'ers we don't need them attitude ( a little bit of ben's post had some of that)  YES you need the MSFS crowd. Working with Frooglesim might be a good way to spread the word about some great x-plane add-on's to the FSX crowd.

I think froogle wouldn't mind if they said that they won't support review samples for whatever reason.

He complained that they didn't even bother to answer his emails ...  a simple 'no' would be enough, but not even answering an email is sad.

To be fair, Peter acknowledged he was partly to blame for the lack of replies, having sent his requests from the wrong email. I'll bet the emails were caught by the spam filter. I know of at least three developers that have contacted froogle since yesterday and made arrangements for review samples. So, we should see reviews of X-Plane products on froogle's youtube channel in the near future.

good to see ... I hope we will see the reviews in the near future.

I haven't tried x-plane at all, but i'm really interested in it and its addons.

maybe in the future I'm also a x-plane user. But until then I hope to see many reviews on youtube so its gets more exposure.

Very goof points indeed

Can you explain number one to me though? Sorry I'm just curious because the xplane forum I look at is this one. I wanna know the gossip I guess...

Getting a little astray of the main topic but I'd have to respectfully disagree with some of what your stating...

On the topic of .Org vs non .org users I don't want to touch that! Users can determine where they feel comfortable for themselves.  I don't particularly care for the .Org for what I consider heavy handed moderation and I don't purchase products from them any more because of this but more importantly that I don't agree with their product support practice of sending updates via emails. I want a place that has a centralized server that I can go get my updates at my leisure and don't have to worry about missing an email or sending in a support request.  These are my opinions and I know there's a good many people who love the .org store; to each his own.  If your talking about a cross platform user base division well much of that is also determined by user preference.  The only way your going to avoid this is to either 1. Only have one platform to choose from or 2. One platform is so superior to the others that there is no reason for division in the first place.  Neither of which has occurred.

On your second point I can agree with just about everything except when you implied that XPlane user's/developers somehow need MSFS users?  Actually they don't.  They didn't need us in V7, V8, V9 and they don't need us in V10 either, I reckon. I think that's where some MSFS users, myself included ( I am new to XP10 and have only been using the program during the last two years), get into trouble. Many threads end up badly for new adopters of Xplane when they start trying to tell longtime XP users "this is whats wrong with" or "this is how how"  XP should work in their respective forums, especially those know for heavy handed moderation. There's one surefire way to ignite a flurry of passionate "heated" responses and that's to be perceived as attacking or criticizing ones beloved platform of choice (regardless of what that choice is) in the other's "house".

Looking back at this thread and the thread at X-pilot it's easier to see how it stirred folks up. I've learned a little from it, tucked some of that away, and now it's time to move on... I've got a Saab 340 to buy and enjoy on payday and I'm really looking forward to that! B)
