FSX and Tablets?

Featured Replies

I can't imagine flying without a tablet!

Currently I have an Ipad 4 that is very helpful.

FSkneeboard is good but unfortunately only for US!

You can also check out Vatmap which is a free app that gives you

Access to charts and weather.

I just discovered Premium Vroute flight planner. While Vroute works on the computer, once a flight plan is completed, you can email a PDF to your tablet that will include weather, fuel, waypoints, etc..

If you're a ForeFlight or WingX User, I highly recommend picking up a cop of FSXFlight (http://www.fsxflight.com/)

Interfacing with FSUIPC, it emulates a recognized/compatible GPS receiver for the above 2 apps, allowing you to use ForeFlight/WingX in the sim, the same way you would in the real aircraft with a linked GPS receiver.

Edit: Disregard. Didn't see the tag that this was for android, not iOS.

Dumb question of the year: I'm getting up in age too. Don't have no tablets. I see a great deal on a 9" tablet, but I notice FlightMap is designed for 7" and 10" tabllets. Can I run the 10" version on a 9" tablet OK? Or should I go ahead and try and find a 10" android?

Thanks.

Although Remote Flight Cockpit HD was mentioned, I find it's companion app - Remote Flight Radio HD to be far more useful to me. Gives you radios, autopilot, transponder, etc. iPad though, so it's obviously not of interest to everyone.

I agree - the Remote Flight Radio / AP app is very useful and I tend to use it a lot. I am not too interested in the basic gauges as I think it is more realistic to use the ones in your VC, but the radio / AP app provides an alternative and very convenient way to change frequencies and control the autopilot without having to move about too much or zoom in on your virtual cockpit. Given that I only have one tablet (an iPad), I think that is the most useful flightsim app and the one I use most often (although I also have SimPlates and the FS Kneeboard apps)

Yes, I use FSX with tablets; generally paracetamol, or if I've had too much red wine, Antacids

Might well need that tonight too after a couple of glasses of red following a hard day at work - just as well we are not breathalysed on flightsim!

Remote Flight Radio: Can you tune the radios on the Ipad touchscreen itself, or is it just a display?

Yes you can, which is sometimes far more convenient than trying to 'twiddle' some of those radio knobs on the vc. Similarly you can control the autopilot from the touchscreen.

Then: Way Cool !

(and very inexpensive too if you already have the hardware).

I have been using one of those expensive CH panels with 25 movable switches for the radios.
