November 3, 201312 yr I'm soon going to buy the 777 and want to do some routes that cross the Atlantic, however, it's not fun preparing the transatlantic radio operations check sheet if there isnt going to be a controller on . That's why I only fly the cross the pond events, however, whats your experience? I looked on Vattastic and both oceanic controllers are on, which to be is a bit odd considering i never see them online besides during events...
November 3, 201312 yr Commercial Member I see them online fairly often, especially on the weekends. You only call them for oceanic clearance & ETA's for waypoints, not really a big deal if they are offline. Rob Prest

I think with the release of the 777 and more people flying those long haul flights you will see them online more often.

November 4, 201312 yr Commercial Member I think most of the T7's receive CPDLC messages over FANS when crossing the North Atlantic now don't they, with only a SELCAL check on HF? Andrew Wilson
November 4, 201312 yr Commercial Member That's correct Andrew. I'm pretty sure Vatsim was planning on Implementing some sort of CPDLC Rob Prest
