November 3, 201312 yr Hi folks. I just downloaded and installed this great freeware airport available at another flightsim site. I really like the work done by this fellow. I am having some flashing of a few airport objects and the car parks are are flashing some as well. And in addition the cars on the car parks appear and disappear. I am working to see what might be causing this. Does anyone know offhand what might cause this? Bryan Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3

November 3, 201312 yr If you want a definitive answer you are probably going to have to tell us the whats and wheres for this addon. Without knowing what you are looking at you will only get best guesses. Did you contact the author? Maybe the cars are cop cars, flashing their lights. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
November 3, 201312 yr Show me a picture of the cars in the car parks. If they are the default rows of parked cars, like I think they are, there is a known issue where having too many of them in a scenery can cause them to disappear from view when looked at directly or just a little while after the scenery loads they just vanish and don't come back. Unfortunately that's an FSX bug I've not heard how to fix Drew Sikora Staff Blog Founder/Designer, MSE Airports
November 3, 201312 yr Author Thanks for this follow-up. The scenery is put out from a fellow in Costa Rico. He has a blog...its all Spanish and so is installer and all his support readme. Basically its easy to follow what should be done to install and add to your scenery library. I posted on his blog in english, I am not hopeful we would be able to have a clear conversation about it but I would welcome it. It know the expertise here is fulsome and would likely get immediate and helpful feedback, which you are doing, thanks. You can find this scenery and plenty other from him over at Flightsim.xxx. Its made with ADE, Sbuilder and Instant Scenery for object placement. Uses an underlying photo scenery area. Drew may be correct about the cars because the come and go especially if you look directly at them. I adjust all sorts of display variables, mesh, filtering, texture resolution, etc. No joy. I flew around the airport about a few hundred feet above as I made adjustments. I notice, the heliports spots are flashing, some building roof top gables are flashing between two types of roof gable textures (wierd), the asphalt parking areas are all flashing. Larger hangers are perfect. I do not know which buildings are autogen and which are custom hangers etc. But it appears like the autogen types are doing the flashing. Taking screenshots is almost useless because you can't see the flashes but I could do that and circle the offending areas. The title of this topic is the title for the download at the other site. November 3, 201312 yr Do you have FTXG? I had similar problem at HECA with flashing buildings with FTXG. Only way to fix the problem was to remove the HECA scenery. 10700k / Gigabyte 3060
November 3, 201312 yr Author Here is a sc Do you have FTXG? I had similar problem at HECA with flashing buildings with FTXG. Only way to fix the problem was to remove the HECA scenery. No do not have FTXG and running GEX NA which covers this area. Here is a screenie of some housing as part of this scenery. Take a look at the roof gables and you will see the roof tops are two toned that is the flashing effect captured in the screenie. Here are three screen captures showing a parking area. Check out the red circled areas. One second there are cars, a fraction later there are none, and all the while the asphalt is flashing show in one of the screenies. Very hard to capture but this took place in about one second. Here are the screenies for the flashing helispot as an example. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
November 4, 201312 yr Here is a screenie of some housing as part of this scenery. Take a look at the roof gables and you will see the roof tops are two toned that is the flashing effect captured in the screenie Looks like he has some custom autogen placed and the sim is also placing autogen (so he didn't exclude anything). What you're seeing are two objects meshed together and occasionally one "tears" through the other. Here are three screen captures showing a parking area. Check out the red circled areas. One second there are cars, a fraction later there are none, and all the while the asphalt is flashing show in one of the screenies. Very hard to capture but this took place in about one second. Hard to see the cars at this distance but they do look like the default rows that I know appear/disappear if too many are included in a scenery. Here are the screenies for the flashing helispot as an example. This and the car park lots are probably a result of a very thin texture atop a non-flattened mesh surface. If you use a program like Airport Design Editor (free) to add a flatten poly under the airport area (it's all in the user manual) this should mitigate the issue when you are near the ground. You could still see some tearing as you fly higher though as the mesh will become less defined with distance and start poking up through the texture again. This you can't fix unless you edit the object to float like 0.3 feet or so off the ground Drew Sikora Staff Blog Founder/Designer, MSE Airports
November 4, 201312 yr Author Thanks Drew. Yes something appears wrong related to this autogen. Another thing just struck me. Wonder if the autogendescriptions file has been compromised. OK so the cars might just be an fsx related issue. The flashing textures issue: Yes I sure can try a flatten, good idea should not be too difficult.
