Really good payware under $15 (US)

Featured Replies

After the recent thread on prices at the end, I got to thinking, "What are the payware bargains?" I realize that this is an elastic term, and depends mainly on (a) your income level and (:( what you value. (E.g., for some people, Misty Fjords is a bargain, relative to how much fun they will get out of it and how much work Sandmann put into it. I think it looks great, but at the current rate of exchange, it's simply out of my price range.) So, to make the question more pointed (and therefore make it more interesting), I'm going to define bargains here as less than $15 (US).I nominate Bill Lyon's "Golden Hawaii," which includes two wonderful aircraft and a lot of cool scenery for $12.50 US. (Google ""golden hawaii" review" for more long and ecstatic reviews. No connection with the author here, just a satisfied customer.)What else is there?

I bought a small utility a while back called FS Reliability Factor. I think it was $7 US. It is a very nice utility for randomly generating failures in flightsim. It also has a "hardcore" mode which will not show you what failed when flying. It has made flying more exciting as now I am always watching the instruments to make sure something hasn't failed. You can also play a sound when a failure occurs if you like, which is nice while using time acceleration. http://members.rogers.com/swsupport/ReliabilityFactor/

I think all of Bill Lyon's product fall in this category. I haven't seen any other aircraft packages like his for $12.50. I own most of them and what I like most is the atmosphere he creates around his aircraft.

I third that. Lyon's stuff is always top-quality and typically only costs around $12. Plus they usually come with bonus scenery and other goodies. I have their PA23 Apache and Travel Air and they are some of my favorite payware aircraft.Active Camera is $15 but I wouln't call it a bargain because it doesn't really do anything useful - it's more of a fun gimmick/toy though it *is* quite fun.

David,I agree! Bill Lyons' packages are a terrific bargain (and addictive... once you get one, you've just gotta have more!). High quality airplanes that fly great, and gorgeous scenery. If you want a look at his current project, check out his forum:http://members5.boardhost.com/golden/Best Regards,Ken

I fully agree to above. There are some very good sceneries out there with really great discounts when getting more than one at a time, example: worldsceneries and simflyers.Ciao, Peter

"I nominate Bill Lyon's "Golden Hawaii," That was the first thing came into my mind. Check out their site.David

PSS 747 (OK, it's for FS2002 but if you're cheap you'll still have that :) ), about $15 depending on the dollar.PSS A320 series used to be about the same until the dollar started its freefall. Can't blame PSS for that LOL.
