Which GA aircraft?

Featured Replies

Well the Seneca and Commander are their two oldest aircraft so the panels are not quite up to the standards of current releases. However they're still very good.

>I did this myself... bought the Commander and the Seneca. I>agree on the great flight models... but there is no way you>can compare the panels or the visual models in these FSD>products to either Real Air or Flight1.>>Sometimes 50% off does not make it a better decision... IMHOYou really have to compare apples to apples. I think the newer FSD aircraft are visually right on par with everything else out there in each models class. It is not terribly just to stack up two of the older designs to what is most current from another company. For example compare the FSD Porter to any of the older Flight 1 models (310, Cardinal, 421) and IMO the Porter stands out well ahead of the pack (and ahead of much of what is current). Also much of it is personal taste and style and that is certainly subjective

Fair enough!I do enjoy flying the Commander, but lets just agree on the fact that it shows its age... If FSD updates it one of these days, I'd love to fly the new version!

You're not going to go wrong with the F1 172. It has become my regular flyer for short hops. Great FDE. The FSD Navajo is as good, and will get you there quicker, though. You need a fast system to get the most out of it, and the VC (being more complicated) doesn't refresh as fast as the 172.

Screw it..Get the Flight1 Conquest 441. My FAVORITE GA aircraft in FS.Excellent Visual ModelGreat FDEGreat SoundsFastFlys HighFunYeah, yeah...it's a twin, but it's a monster!

Interesting:May be System specific. Granted my system is a reasonably high end system (3.2) but I found the following with the Navajo:I frequently fly with my 2D Panel on my primary monitor, and when conditions will allow it, with a spot plane view on one of my other monitors. With the Navajo, for the first time there was little to no frame rate impact with the spot plane view activated as long as my cloud cover was not overwhelming. (Misty Fjords}.I find this bird to be outstanding relative to frame rate impact. Some are very significant. Even from the same hanger, I find the Pilatus (Great plane) to be far more demanding than the Navajo. As I said, may be system specific. I do not doubt what you are saying at all, just giving my results.Respectfully:RTH 1585368CFI

Andreas,The available choices out there are quite numerous, as can be noted from the response you are getting. Its my opinion you can find just about anything you want and you probably won't be disappointed with any of them.PaywareFSD International:Commander 115TCPiper Navajo PantherPilatus PC-6 PorterPiper SenecaAerostarPiper Cheyenne 400(future planned release of the Avanti P180 and the Cessna 337 Skymaster)Flight 1 Software:Cessna 152Cessna Skyhawk 172RCessna 310Cessna 421Cessna CardinalPiper Meridan 2004Piper ArcherCessna 441 Conquest IIRealAir SimulationsAmerican Champion ScoutAmerican Champion DecathlonSIAI Marchetti SF.260CarenadoPiper Cherokee 180FPiper Archer IIPiper DakotaCessna 210 Centurion IIBeechcraft Bonanza F33ABeechcraft Bonanza V35Beechcraft Mentor T34BEaglesoftCessna Citation II/SPCessna Citation XCessna Citation CJ1Raytheon Beechjet 400ARaytheon Hawker 400XPRaytheon Beechjet 400A PremierFreewareMilton Shupe & companyAero Commanders 500, 500S Shrike, 520, 560, 680RealAir SimulationsCessna 172SPMikko Maliniemi (and group)Valmet L-70 VinkaMaule M-7-260 (available at Nordic Sim site and picked as freeware aircraft of the year and winner of the AVSIM BravoZulu award)Pitts S-1SPitts S-1S SpecialPitts S-2SPitts S-1EPitts S-2S "Bulldog"Cessna 206 Stationair 6 II AmphibianCessna 185 OH-DAK on skisCessna 185 OH-DAK on floatsLong Island ClassicsL-16A AeroncaMarco RavanelloAFG Pilatus PC-12Ole Egholm, John Woodward, Roger Austli, Tero HeikkinenPiper Cherokee 140Guidee Francois-DenisCessna 206 Stationair IIJohn Woodward, Brian Gladden, & groupLake Amphibian Turbo 270I'm sure there are more that can be added, but these are the ones I am sure of that just might fit into your desires.Bear!

Personally I like the Flight One Cessna Cardinal C177. It has a nice feel to it and the photorealistic panel and gauges are easy to see. Also, I read that Flight One is updating it some more with new shiny textures and maybe a couple of other things. The textures are the only thing I find fault with, and that's just outside. The interior is great! Plus you get two models, the RG and FG.My other favorite is the Meridian, but it would fall under the "hard to read" category. The gauges zoom in, but are difficult to see normally, especially if your monitor isn't LCD or high resolution.I don't have any other GAs, except RealAir's Scout, but it's a different bird all together. It's a perfect little flyer, and I love it, but it only goes low and slow.
