November 26, 201312 yr If you alt-tab does any error message show (if hidden)? If so, is it RC4's, fsuipc4's, or P3Dv2's.
November 26, 201312 yr Once I’ve loaded the flight plan in RC4 and press start, I go back to P3D and it sits for a second and then the default windows error message pops up, “This program has encountered a problem and will need to close”. No other messages other than that, rc4 just freezes and needs to be force closed. Could it be something to do with makerwys? It used to appear to move the aircraft, that is the scenery changed and started to redraw before it crashed. I downloaded the latest makerwys.exe put it in the P3D folder, re ran makerwys.bat and now the scenery doesn’t change but it still crashes. Thank you for your time.
November 27, 201312 yr Moderator The answer seems to lie in FSUIPC4 if you read the comments on this thread. http://forum.simflight.com/topic/75672-p3d2-and-fsuipc/ Pete is back from his holiday in the next 48 hours so help shouldn't be far away. November 27, 201312 yr I got FSUPIC working, window pops up and everything. I started a new log within FSUPIC and this is the last thing to get written to it before crashing (If that's any help): FSUIPC Display Title set = "Radar Contact" WRITE0 3380, 42 bytes: 52 43 56 34 20 69 73 20 52 65 61 64 79 0D 0A 45 50 20 54 4C 3D 46 4C 31 32 30 0D 0A 41 52 20 54 4C 3D 46 4C 31 32 30 00 WRITE0 32FA, 2 bytes: 00 00 In the mean time I'll wait for a new version of FSUPIC.
November 28, 201312 yr Just out of curiosity I recognized those values. While I don't program to FSUIPC I looked at some documents. The values are being written to the fsuipc/RC cockpit window display. It is three lines stating: RCV4 is Ready EP TL=FL120 AR TL=FL120 Do you see this when using RCV4 with FSX? Go to this module update page for fsuipc: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/ If you do not have it download the full install for 4.921f and install. Then download and install the interim fix 4.921i. Read the notes in this section. If you are a Win 8 user there is a crash fix. Edit: I later counted the bytes including the terminating 00 in the message line 3. It is less than 42 It looks like a timing error. It looks like I would guess the second line should be DEP for departure and the third should have ARR for arrival, both stating transition levels. The latest fsuipc4.921i might help that. Timing errors in writes to ram can cause crashes are other effects.
November 28, 201312 yr Edit: Pete is back and working on a new version of fsuipc, hopefully that'll solve it... Downloaded and installed the latest fsuipc, same result. This is the output doing exactly the same thing in FSX with no crash. November 28, 201312 yr No missed characters in FSX I see if that was your pasted logging output. Oh, well, I'll butt out since Pete's back. BTW, are you on Win 8 or Win 7-64? I read the interview regarding P3D-V2 about core improvements along with improvements available in their version of Sim Connect. That improved core performance may have something to do with your errors. (That core improvement should have been in FSX!)
November 29, 201312 yr Commercial Member Edit: Pete is back and working on a new version of fsuipc, hopefully that'll solve it... Downloaded and installed the latest fsuipc, same result. .. Until this evening, with the release of 4.923, there was no version of FSUIPC which would work correctly with P3D version 2.0. Folks are trying to force an incompatible version to work with it and wonder why they get problems! I've said this elsewhere -- in fact in several places -- but it seems i have to repeat it in every Forum! For every updated release of every supported FS version, FSUIPC ALWAYS needs changing. There are many hooks and patches into the actual code, and these things move around. Whilst precautions are taken to avoid crashes wherever possible, in some cases it just isn't possible, and in others the avoidance action means facilities just do not work correctly. There were 3 separate FSUIPC releases for the 3 Beta releases of P3D v2.0 which I actually saw (I was away when the 4th appears, so missed that one). November 29, 201312 yr Hi Pete, First thank you for producing a new version so quick after you holidays, I'm sure everyone appreciates it more than you think. With every new shiny toy people are keen to get it working as soon as possible, I'm sure you can appreciate that. As with many people I don't have an in depth understanding of how rc4 or FSUIPC communicate with the flight sim but I felt it was worth a go. I didn't even know if my installation of rc4 had completed successfully with v2, hence my post on here. I was only trying to communicate with the rc4 community to make sure I hadn't stuffed up my installation somehow. Sorry if I infuriated you in some way, I was only trying to eliminate my rc4 installation from the equation.
November 29, 201312 yr Hello Pete: On your forum modules update page I thought I saw in either the full or interim update description a reference to P3D V2 prior to 4.923. Misread. Sorry.
November 30, 201312 yr Commercial Member On your forum modules update page I thought I saw in either the full or interim update description a reference to P3D V2 prior to 4.923. Misread. Sorry. The INSTALLER was updated for P3Dv2, and this fact was mentioned. This was needed because the P3D CFG and Document folders are named differently -- so that folks can have both P3Dv1 and P3Dv2 both installed on the same PC (for things like evaluation, comparison, conversion). There were separate FSUIPC releases (announced only on the Beta Forum) for each of the first 3 Beta versions of P3Dv2 -- I missed the 4th because it appeared on the first day of my holiday. The actual release occurred a day or two before my return. For every single update of every single version of FS, no matter whether by Microsoft or Lockheed-Martin, I have to do a few days work converting all the hooks and hacks to match the revised coding. If I'm lucky it only takes a day, but it could take a week or more. I was lucky this time, but there was no way ever for me to get a working FSUIPC out before the target program is available. Best Regards Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. GPU: RTX 24Gb Titan 2 x 2160p projectors at 25Hz onto 200 FOV curved screen
December 8, 201312 yr I fly with RC4.3 in P3D2 but I never get vectored approach. I always have to choose either visual or IAP. Why? I never had this problem FSX. Anyone can solve this problem?? Other than this RC43 works very nice in P3D2. I installed 4.923. in P3D2. Placed Makerunwas 4674 in P3D2 folder and run rebuild in RC. Thanks for help, /YY Yuji Y
