December 15, 200421 yr Hello,Just a sim pilot here - I have the CS707 and the DF 727 and DC9. I have learned to fly them a little and would like to try some "real" flights for them. Are any or all of these still in service somewhere? If so, where and for what purpose? Thanks in advance,Ron SagelNear KCHS
December 15, 200421 yr I just saw the post on the 727. I would still like to know about the 707 and the DC9.Thanks,Ron Sagel
December 15, 200421 yr Not many 707's still fly. If any on a regular time schedule. 727's still fly frequently for Cargo Airlines such as DHL and FedEx. DC9 are still flown by several airlines. Right off hand, i know Continental flys them.:-wave hope this ansewers your question. Chase Barnett
December 15, 200421 yr Northwest is still flying DC-9s - saw a few in their new livery at DTW on my last trip.
December 15, 200421 yr the RAAF still has a 707 flying. Also dont forget the Travolta 707 Brent Lewis
December 16, 200421 yr continental does not fly dc-9's anymore.only northwest flies them still. still do powerbacks in them in MEM.although......technically an md-80/90 or 717 is considered a dc-9 according to the type ratings. then a lot of airlines still fly them.
December 16, 200421 yr Yes there are numerous 707's still flying, and many DC9's and many 727's.A quick search at landings using their query found several registered 707's in the United States.Great and free databases can be accessed over there.http://www.landings.comme,... .... CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
December 16, 200421 yr not exectly a 707 but I see KC-135s flying above me every day out of KLCK :)Heck they just did more upgrades to them to keep many in service for many more years.-Jonathan
December 16, 200421 yr All are still flying throughout the world. Most 707s are cargo / military / government / private these days, but all three are still seeing action. When it comes to pax service, the 707 is almost history, but the others are not.Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...R_FORUM_LOU.jpg
December 16, 200421 yr US centric attitude...Many DC-9s still fly all around the world. Same with 707s and probably 727s as well.Large DC-9 and 727 operator is Aeropostal from Venezuela who fly them all over South and Central America and into the USA.
December 16, 200421 yr Northwest dropped the DC-9-10 a few days ago, but the -20/30/40/50 will probably be in their fleet until they fall apart. Makes no sense to replace them with an A319 when it's cheaper to keep using what they've got (and their DC-9 fleet is massive, the largest in the world).
December 16, 200421 yr UPS and FedEx are both still flying the 727; I think UPS mainly uses the -100, and FedEx the -200. Champion Air still has some 727s used for charters; in fact, John Edwards had a Champion Air 727 leased as his campaign jet during the Presidential campaign. And as other people have stated, Northwest is still flying a fair number of DC-9s and has no intention of giving them up in the next few years. MD-80s and -90s, of course, are still in wide service with many different airlines. There are, I'm sure, a number of 707s still flying regular service in other parts of the world, as well as charter service, and of course a lot are used in governmental and cargo service worldwide.Lewis "Moose" GregoryColumbia, South Carolina Lewis "Moose" Gregory Durham, North Carolina
December 16, 200421 yr Most of them have disappeared even in the rest of the world due to noise regulations. In Europe only JAT still operates 727-200s and DC-9-30s on a regular schedule in passenger config and Aviogenex has a few 727-200s for charter flights, both out of Belgrade. DHL and UPS have been mentioned also other cargo operators like Purolator, Custom Air others in South America like VARIG Log. Iran Aseman and Jatayu operate a few 727-200s in passsenger service and so does Ariana Afghana Airlines. There are also still a few South American 727 operators like LAB, Aerosur, Lienas Aereas Suramericanas. The only 707 currently in regular passenger service that I am aware of is Saha Air of Iran. A few Cargo carriers like BETA and Skymaster still operate the 707. Aeroasia, Aero California, 1Time and Aerocaribe still operate DC-9s.
December 16, 200421 yr Don't know whether they were transferred for other purposes or totally retired, but the old 707's used for Air Force One (and two or whatever) I believe were removed from service for those purposes some months ago.I have pictures of one of them on final over my house shooting touch and goes at KLWB SW of DC. They used to be a periodical visitor. Thanks to the noise, one could always tell when they were around. Kind of miss the wake up roar.Happy Flying:RTH 1585368CFI
