November 28, 201312 yr I did some flights recently to Twin Falls Idaho, Mountain Home Idaho and Comox BC. I noticed that the localiser OK at Twin Falls, but did not line up at Mountain Home or Comox. I was using ORBX scenery , but the same thing happens with FSX default scenery. Was ther a fix for this? Ron Ron Service .
November 28, 201312 yr Some approaches have an offset localizer, not sure about these since I havent flown them. Go to Airnav, com and pull the approach plates and see what they show Jay
November 28, 201312 yr Are you asking about KMUO Rwy 12/30 and or CYQQ Ryw 12? (hard to know by guessing). Seems like the localizer alignment is wrong on KMUO (both BRN and MUO). At CYQQ, if Google Earth is to believed (hard to get good data from Nav Can) the airport layout in FSX is incorrect and the runways need fixing as well as ILS. Don't know if a fix is out there, a library search would probably answer that quickly enough. scott s. .
November 28, 201312 yr There are a few more. Try e.g. Juneau (PAJN) or Petersburg (PAPG) in Alaska. My favourite is the localizer approach to PAPG Rwy-23 (almost 066° difference with runway heading) which also includes a lengthy arc turn and a relatively complex MAP. November 28, 201312 yr Author I know there are some legit offset approaches due to terrain ., Innsbruck Austria comes to mind , and I'm sure there are many more due to terrain issues . The one I have a problem with is mainly Mountain Homee AFB which is on a plateau , but the localiser lines up parallel to the runway on essentially flat terrain . I know there were some errors in the original FSX and I guess I'll need to check if MS or fellow simmers made fixes . I'm going to make blow ups of ORBX PNW and ajoining areas coverage to explore in my Aerosoft Twin Otter extended. Thanks for the replies everyone. Ron Ron Service .
November 28, 201312 yr You might want to try running the Flight1 Registry fixer. That has fixed problems with navigation in the past with me. Sometimes it causes you to have to re-activate FSDT airports or PMDG airplanes sometimes but it's just a few mouse clicks.
November 28, 201312 yr Maybe also consider having a look at this thread about magnetic variation here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/336155-magnetic-variation-updates-for-fs9-and-fsx/ Updating the magnetic variation and navaids database in FSX/P3D may not be a 200% solution for this issue but can certainly help a lot to improve things! Cheers, Christoph Enjoy flying and happy landings.
