Canberra PR9

Hi all,

We are currently looking for experienced beta testers to assist us in the testing of our upcoming Canberra PR9 (http://www.justflight.com/product/canberra). If you have previous experience testing a high-level FSX aircraft (anything from an A2A C172 to a VRS F/A-18 to a PMDG 777) and would be willing to devote some of your precious time to testing our Canberra PR9, please drop me a message.

If you have real-world experience on an aircraft of a similar type but no experience testing FSX aircraft, we would also love to hear from you! This aircraft is being developed with the direct input of three ex-PR9 pilots, but the more input the better!

Thanks
Martyn (Just Flight)

If this is as 'high level' as you say it is, this will certainly be very interesting!

I do hope the Canberra is beta-tested properly before release. JF offer a wonderful selection of aircraft not modelled by other FSX developers but have released many of them with bugs or simple errors that should have been picked up during testing.

I was going to buy the DC-8 which looks lovely but as far as I'm aware it still has bugs which haven't been addressed despite releasing an SP1?

Hi Callum,

As one of two programmers involved in this project I can confirm that over 95% of the functionality mentioned in the real-world manual is included in our version (the missing 5% being functionality virtually impossible to include in FS). We have developed the aircraft with the assistance of four ex-RAF PR9 pilots and the team based at Kemble who have got XH134 back into the air this year.

Thanks

Martyn

Hi Adam,

It is worth noting that we sell/publish aircraft from numerous developers, each of which differ in terms of complexity etc. In reference to the DC-8, I am not aware of the exact details but a pretty comprehensive service pack is due shortly. I believe that SP1 was more of an interim update/hotfix.

This is the first aircraft developed by our new in-house development team. As explained above, I am one of the three people who has been working on the PR9 for many months now and I am very proud of what we have achieved. As a simmer for over 15 years, I am pretty confident that anyone keen on the aircraft type will love this!

If you are a fan of classic aircraft neglected by other developers, I'm sure you will be happy to know that my next project involves a four engined British airliner first flown in the 60s that was operated until recently by the RAF  ^_^

Thanks

Martyn

Sounds excellent. I hope you simulate and incorporate the INS units in the VC10!

Callum McLoughlin

Hi nortmar

That is excellent news about the four-engined aircraft...I presume you are talking about the most beautiful airliner ever built (apart from Concorde...IMHO) the VC-10? I hope it will be as good as or even better than the lovely David Maltby freeware VC-10 that I and many others already have in our FSX hangers.

Understood re the DC-8 - I am just frustrated that JF release some fantastic looking aeroplanes only to have them receive bad press because of sillly little things that are wrong with them. The kind of things that beta-testing should solve before release.

I did offer my services as a beta-tester a while back but never heard anything back. I'd certainly like to be part of the VC-10 beta-testing team. Used to have to make room for them in the circuit at Brize when I was flying commercially from Oxford.  Nothing like having a VC-10 slotting into the circuit behind you!

Martyn, I have a question. What sort of documentation will you be providing with this aircraft? I imagine as a military type it is quite different to operate than a commercial aircraft. That is another aspect that interests me!

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!

TAKE MY MONEY NOOOWWWWWW!

Nick

Sorry to say I am not an experienced beta tester however I am extremely excited for this release. I wish you all the best during this upcoming phase of development and I will anxiously wait for my chance to fly her!

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

I am currently finishing off the 35,000 word manual. It explains all of the systems, how to operate all of the controls, performance data, checklists etc - basically all the information that we could get hold of for the real aircraft. An interactive checklist is available in FS too.

As a 1950s military jet there is more than enough switches/gadgets for you to fiddle with!

That sounds wonderful Martyn, out of interest what is the transponder equipment like on this bird? I am a VATSIM flyer and I absolutely hate the way PMDG, as an example, does not seem to allow squawkbox/FSInn to have the Mode Charlie readout sent from the pilot client by selecting XPNDR mode on the aircraft's panel.

Will that be modelled with the same complexity and detail as the Canberra? If so, then you have just been added to my Christmas card list
