December 28, 200421 yr DanI have FS Genesis 38m terrain mesh for the USA but I have not installed the update. I have recently installed the new textures available here on AVSIM this past week and possibly theres a connection there. Ijust flew a flight across canada from Toronto to Vancouver with no problems until I was 20 miles from the Vancouver airport on approach. I had US roads disabled and I was using the textures for Northern Europe which look great going across the rockies. I was smart enough to save the flight along the way and was able to continue the flight successfully to a landing after switching the textures back to default.I reloaded the flight again this time with US roads Major activated and got the ctd at the same spot again even thou I was using the default textures. NO other changes were made. Anyone else using Lennarts textures experiencing any CTDS around airports?IM going to check my landclass files next and see what happens,Thanks to you all for your input and ideas.Don
December 28, 200421 yr Hi,The cause of the shut down of FS9 at 50% load mark is mostly the Dtx3 texture and "Render to Texture" thing. If you are using clouds with Dtx3 textures, be sure the "Render to texture" thing is on.hm
December 28, 200421 yr No, that is at 77%.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
December 28, 200421 yr Hi Don,Funny you should mention CTD's. Since FS95 to Fs9 I doubt if I had had more than 3 CTD's; until about a week ago, now I've had 2. I installed Lennart's Textures soon after they were posted on Avsim File Library. I've never been really sure if I have installed them properly. My recent CTD's have occurred in Europe e.g. last night I tried a flight from EGSS Stansted to EDDM Munich; about 10 nm from the DIK (Diekirch) VOR/DME suddenly I was looking at my desktop!! no warning at all.Using Lennart's TextureSwitch I had selected North Europe, which seemed to be the right choice :). I don't know the answer; except maybe to un-install Lennart's Texures and try again - problem is I get so mad when CTD's occur :).One other point, I'm not realy sure where 'North Europe' begins and ends; in the UK we mostly use the terms Eastern and Western Europe.Ken,Somerset, England
December 28, 200421 yr Hi KenThanks for the info. I too have installed Lennarts Textures and found there to be a flaw with the installer program that added to my C drive a file folder called "Program" with several sub folders inside. XP dedected this folder as being a potential problem immediately after I did the install and re booted. It is in this folder that I found Lennarts textures and I copied them to the North Europe file folder where I suppose they should have went to in the first place. Before all this I never had a CTD, I have replaced all the world textures with the default ones and still get the CTD with USA roads installed. I have systematically disabled all traffic bgls, all addon scenery files except the USA roads , all afcads , all mesh and landclass files and still I get a CTD at 52% load up at KIAD.Im beginning to think the Lennart program may have done something else I didnt notice or want.Starting to get a little frustrated now. Dont know what else to try or do except start from scratch.Don:-hmmm
December 29, 200421 yr >First of all no need to say anything for a lack of paragraphs.>Those of us that can read English and have something to say>can do just fine.Hey, Mr. "Hope that helps," whether it does or not...I can read English just fine myself. Of course, you only used that as opportunity to take a shot at me, didn't you? I am not the only one that finds such things difficult to read. Aside from that, my criticsim seemed to work, didn't it? Thank you, babewatcher.
December 29, 200421 yr >Forget the paragraphs for the moment, how about a nicer way>of correcting someone? How about an example then? And make sure that Skorna approves.
December 29, 200421 yr >It's the internet. Who gives a darn about somebody elses>paragraph structure, Edam. >>Good Lord.Paragraph structure has no meaning because it's on the Internet?I guess that it has no meaning anywhere then. What a dumb response.
December 29, 200421 yr HI ALLCan you see the smile on my face ;) I am happy to report that I have found the cause for my problems. I loaded up all my scenery addons etc and removed the scenery/world/texture folder and all of the Lennart folders including the switching program and booted up FS9 at KIAD with todays date and Daylight hours. I did get an error message during the load up of a scenery read error "attempting to load a non existant directory". I hit oK and it continued to load and there I was at KIAD with no CTD.I then added my saved world/scenery /textures folder and files prior to installing the Lennart files or folders and guess what? It load up fine at KIAD with all my files including USA Roads activated. Now I had replaced the textures before but I had left the Lennart folders and switch program in place and I got the CTD anyways. SO just replacing the textures in the active folder was not enough to do the trick. If anyone else has these textures and is not having CTDS I would be most interested in how you installed same. I liked the textures and found them to be very appealling to the eye. Thanks to you all for your advise and assistance. Hope this helps others who may be experiencing CTDS and dont know why.Don

CTDs can be nasty, although I've never had problems. :(http://darkstarorder.com/sigs/Batman/SigFinal.jpgKen Weik [link:maam.org|MAAM-SIM][link:library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=root&SearchTerm=kenneth+weik&Sort=Added&ScanMode=0&Go=Change+View]My AFCADs
