The problem with that view is the example of J41 SP2. Initially talked of as coming after the NGX was released then not talked about for months, then officially dropped after continued speculation in the forum. I'm not saying NGX SP2 will go the same way, but not mentioning it at all will unsettle people.

I think a reiteration that NGX SP2 will happen once 777X SP1 is out would therefore be very welcome. Further expansions and future project releases are a different matter, no customers have anything invested in them but their hopes. Support of the NGX basepack through to SP2 is important to all existing customers.

Thanks for the explanation.  That makes sense.

I would seriously appreciate it if PMDG would clarify their stance on the NGX SP2 and -900ER etc.

Why would you tell us you are going to release it in the future and then go silent and ignore our requests more than two years after release?

If PMDG aren't going to bother, you might as well just tell us so rather than leave us patiently awaiting something that will never arrive.... <_<

+1

I started this topic two months ago. It's been viewed more than 4,500 times and has almost 50 replies. Ryan closed a topic yesterday relating to the 777 update, so it's not like they aren't frequenting the forum. Personally, I find the continual refusal by them to say anything whatsoever about this project to be pretty rude. The NGX was released in August 2011 and next to nothing has been said in the two-and-a-half years since. Having said that, it seems to be the way PMDG operates - drip feeding customers and prospective customers alike. Don't get me wrong, though. I don't expect PMDG to respond to every single post on here. But for posts such as this that are of keen interest to customers (past, present and future), I cannot for the life of me comprehend why PMDG would remain completely silent. As a former business owner myself, I found communicating with my customers to be essential to the success of my business because it didn't matter how good my product was - if I didn't tell people and keep them in the loop, they'd go elsewhere in the absence of any information.

Matthew Bellette

petulant whining about it.  Can someone explain why it's such a huge deal that they haven't added any information?

I'm about tired of you being PMDG's self proclaimed "moderator" every-time sometime respectfully requests for some information of some sort....

There is a difference in whining and requesting that one of the devs take a few minutes to type something letting us know how things are progressing.(or standing still)

This whole ordeal of "quit whining and be patient" is absurd considering I HAVE been patient and I have not "whined". - How many threads have I made "begging" for NGX info?

Totally agree

The fact I have paid a company hundreds of dollars to use their products and they can't take the time to give me a simple update is utterly preposterous. Well you know what, maybe next time I don't have the time to be a customer. - I'd rather take my money somewhere where customer requests are actually taken into account once in a while.

Imagine this, you buy a new phone at Best Buy and they tell you that you can come back to the store in a few months for an upgrade.... A few months passes and you go back to Best Buy for your upgrade. As you approach the manager to ask for your upgrade, he blatantly ignores your requests. Out of frustration you raise your voice in attempt to get his attention. Then, wonder why he isn't responding.... Afterwards, a few Best Buy hardcore supporters decide to pick on you and tell you that YOU are the one that is impatient and unreasonable for requesting something that you thought you were going to recieve. You then proceed to leave with a bitter taste and a wallet full of cash that Best Buy won't be getting a single penny of.

See my point? I am not begging. I am not whining. I am making a request and I feel like PMDG are alienating a portion of their customer base by utterly ignoring us.

The supercilious attitude of PMDG is what make me want to take my hard earned money elsewhere... Sure the products are fine quality but the arrogance is really what crosses me.

Well, apart from four hotfixes, SP1, SP1b, SP1c, the -600/700 expansion ....

You mind explaining how explaining the counterpoint is considered being the moderator?  The moderator of a debate is not involved in it.  Further, the mod in a forum would be the one telling both of us to shut it (or dole out bans/restrictions/etc).

Some people lay that on me like it's some slanderous term that's going to cut to my core...

(Yes, I know how to properly link pics - this is a joke)

Right, but you did the former:

"Why would you tell us you are going to release it in the future and then go silent and ignore our requests more than two years after release?"

Request:

Please update us on X, Y, and Z.

Whining:

Including emotional terms.  It can also often be identified when people use falsehoods in their arguments.

The silent may be true, but the ignore certainly isn't.  There have been a couple threads where Ryan and RSR have acknowledged the request and simply said they're not ready to discuss it.  Not sure what your definition is, but in most dictionaries, that's acknowledgement.

You're being really dramatic.  You may not think so, but step back, get the emotion out, and then come back and try to approach this rationally.  You'll start to see that you're adding a lot more emotion to all of this than is truly needed.

Exactly!  Vote with your wallet if you don't like their approach to business.

Except, like just about every passenger who yelled at me when I worked with the airlines, we all know you'll be back.

"IM NEVER FLYING THIS AIRLINE AGAIN!!!"

Next week:

"Hi Dan!  Can't beat these fares, eh?  Have a nice flight!"

That's a really poor example.  An upgrade for a cell phone is a contractually-supported agreement.  Additionally, in your example, there's a support staff of dedicated salepeople, which don't exist here.

For what it's worth, I didn't pick on your post for simply asking (you'll note I only quoted yours and Lee's).  I picked on your post for being dramatic about it.  Lee's I addressed for the reasons I mentioned in that post.

Sad fact:

In business, you'll always have people who are never satisfied.  As much as it sucks to lose a sale, trying to constantly please that group brings diminishing returns.

My decent analogy gets the point across and I am sure other members would agree. - No need to endlessly nitpick it. The rating system is here for a reason....

You mind explaining how explaining the counterpoint is considered being the moderator?

The problem is, you weren't explaining a counterpoint. - You told me that I needed not to whine childishly. I fail to understand how that is a counterpoint to my request to a product that has yet to be released.

I have seen your posts many times telling others to shut their mouths and stop the whining about release dates etc. - I am sure other forum members would attest to this.

Essentially scandanavian, much of your input in these kinds of threads seems to be of little use. I don't appreciate it and it really isn't constructive to the conversation we have been holding. You seem to be one of a handful opposed to asking questions about something in a completely respectful and rational manner.

When the conversation gets fired up like this, the thread closes and we no longer can have a discussion in the first place.... <_<

Some people lay that on me like it's some slanderous term that's going to cut to my core...

Let me be frank.... Annoying posts that tell a member to stop "whining" are more annoying than the poster himself.

Why can't they make a pinned forum post? Do I really have to search through endless threads to find some post that RSR or Ryan made a while back?

  • Commercial Member

I'm gonna shut this down since it has devolved into a bunch of sniping - our position for an extremely long time has been to say that we release information when there is information to release. Our focus is the 777 SP1 and 300ER right now. We have said we plan on updating the NGX and doing addition product extensions at some point in the future. That has not changed, but it is not the current development priority.
