January 14, 201412 yr One of my new takeoff checklist steps are"Trim"Aileron Trim - 0 Elevator Trim - Takeoff Setting Rudder Trim - Half a tick mark to the right After the gear is up and you start accelerating, the rudder trim moves progressivley left as you accelerate. Flap up & reduction in prop RPM also get Rudder trim closer to the centre. Descent with reduced thrust and high IAS is almost fully centred rudder trim Rudder trim comes back a bit right as you add power for the approach with flaps set. Flare is done without reducing power significantly. Once you are on the ground rolling out after landing the rudder trim doesn't matter anymore. A go around will need a bunch of right rudder which you begin to relieve with trim after the gear is up. I have been flying in Flight Simulator for years, and this is the first addon that needed so much rudder trim movements that I assigned buttons to rudder trim. The last time I had to think so much about rudder inputs was when flying real aircraft (C172) and being told by an instructor to keep the ball centred in the turn co-ordinator instrument while turning.
