January 5, 201412 yr I just got a new GTX 780 and it has made a world of difference in FSX. I'm coming from an ATI 7770 and the difference is night and day. I did a flight this morning on vatsim and decided to see how the sim would perform with fraps recording and it did great. Here is small snippet. I'm running ASN, FTXGlobal and REX4
January 5, 201412 yr Very, very nice, Devgrp! Any of the GTX x80 series were monster GPU's as they were introduced, but the 780 stands head and shoulders above all of them. January 5, 201412 yr Im about to make a similar move (ATI 7970), man that video is nice! What brand gtx 780 did you get and are you running sweet fx or enb?
January 5, 201412 yr ENB doesn't work with DX10, Jason, and will crash the sim if its dll's are found by FSX. January 5, 201412 yr Thanks guys. Its a EVGA 780 @ JasonW. I dont think enb works with dx10 and I couldnt get sweetfx to work. I think its because I have windows 8.1. Only mod is shade with the clean white sunsets preset
January 6, 201412 yr Hi guys, i don`t want to hijack this thread but please allow me one question. My PC: WIN7 Ult.64bit,i7 975oc 3,8GHz,3x2GB DDR3-1600RAM Mushkin RedLine(6-7-6-18),3x300GB VC-Raptor,Asus P6T Deluxe V2,Gainward GTX580 Phantom ,Tagan PipeRock 800W.,Watercooled-CPU Would i benefit from a GTX780? For the moment i don`t want to build a new rig. Thank you Mike
January 6, 201412 yr Not if you have the 580, Mike. If your proc was running at 4.6 or better, then yes - a 780 would be the way to go. At this moment it takes everything that my 2600K can throw at it - at 5 gig, but if that got pushed to, say 5.4 gig.... Your 580 is still one of the best GPU's available for FSX. January 6, 201412 yr Oh,i didn`t knew that. Good, that i`ve asked this, was just looking for the prices for a 780GTX. That saves me a lot of money-----thank you,Paul! Mike

Thank you Mike Like Poul said .Think about saving up your money for a new motherboard and CPU like 4770k first and you will see 30-50 procent increase in performance. Then match GPU afterwards Michael Moe

ENB may not run by SweetFX v1.4 runs like a champion in DX10. January 6, 201412 yr Paul, Do you think that I would notice any improvement by going to a GTX780? Thanks, Jim i7 3770k @ 4.3 GHZ GTX670 DX10 with Steve's fixer Windows 7 FSX Gold
January 6, 201412 yr Hi Jim: marginal, as the cpu is only running at 4.3, and the 670 is quite capable of handling that throughput. Not so if the proc was running at 4.8 - 5.1. That imbalance will allow liberties with your FSX settings though, UsePools=0, decent cloud, decent graphics are possible with your existing setup, better even if you can pop up to 4.4, or a bit higher. It's a good processor, as long as it stays cool, or can be kept cool. Hope this helps! All the best, pj i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
