October 17, 201411 yr Author Commercial Member OpusFSI Beta Version 4.02.0 is now available for download on our website. Remember when installing the OpusFSI_v402_Beta.msi file you must uninstall your current version before installing the new version (do not delete your previous \OpusFSI installation folder). After installing please check all the settings in your Configure and Weather dialogues. You can download from http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/downloads.htm The button options on the FSISERVER's main form are now greyed out when disabled. The Live Camera interface now includes Panning Sequences which need both the Live Camera and Live Camera Control options to be enabled before they can be used. Panning Sequences are managed and edited using the new 'Panning' button on the FSISERVER's main form. In addition, up to nine (9) Panning Sequences can be assigned to, or associated with each Live Camera view using the new 'Panning' button in the Camera Editing dialog. New Play Panning Sequence button and key options have been added to the Shortcut commands. These commands can be used to play a Live Camera view's Panning Sequence. If only one Panning Sequence has been assigned then it will be played. However, if multiple Panning Sequences (up to a maximum of nine) have been assigned to the camera then the on-screen Menu box will be displayed allowing the user to select the required named Panning Sequence to be played. The Panning Sequence Menu is automatically removed after either a 15s timeout period or when the user makes a selection. New Play Panning Sequence option added to the simulator's 'Add-ons - OpusFSI Live Camera' menu. Selecting this menu option has the same effect as using the new 'Play Panning Sequence' Shortcut command above. Problem with LCC Yaw movement through 360 degrees with TrackIR enabled corrected. Remember when installing the OpusFSI_v402_Beta.msi file you must uninstall your current version before installing the new version (do not delete your previous \OpusFSI installation folder). After installing please check all the settings in your Configure and Weather dialogues. You can download from http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/downloads.htm Panning Sequences can now be terminated by pressing and holding down the Left Mouse Button. The playing sequence will be terminated at the end of the 'next' eye point movement, in other words at the start of the next configured eye point position. So just make sure you are holding down the left mouse button when the next eye point position is reached. Look Left and Look Right Panning Sequences added to the pre-configured set and included in the Opus Panning Sequences Import PSF file. Regards Stephen
October 22, 201411 yr Author Commercial Member OpusFSI Beta Version 4.03.0 is now available for download on our website. Remember when installing the OpusFSI_v403_Beta.msi file you must uninstall your current version before installing the new version (do not delete your previous \OpusFSI installation folder). After installing please check all the settings in your Configure and Weather dialogues. You can download from http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/downloads.htm The Live Weather Engine (LWE) takes into account additional cloud, surface, and atmospheric data to determine its low level (up to 6000 feet AGL) and Mid level (6000 to 26000 feet AGL) cloud coverage. In this beta, both the low and mid level cloud and associated data has been factored in and blended with the 'actual' METAR data. Forecasted low and mid level clouds are used in all METAR sparse areas, areas generally 40 miles or more away from any 'actual' METAR report. Medium level clouds are also used in areas of good METAR coverage whenever there is no localised mid level cloud reported. GFS surface and atmospheric data is also used to select cloud types including TCU and CB. The forecasted surface precipitation data has been used in conjunction with the cloud data to determine likely areas of precipitation. The high level cloud data has not been used in this beta. This data will be used in the next beta to control, enable or disable, cirrus cloud. The LWA geographic and smaller footprint weather maps now include options to display or overlay the most significant Lower and Medium Level Cloud Coverage layers. The lower and medium levels are defined above. The Dynamic Wind Control's (DWC) lower elevation limit has been increased to 3000 feet AGL whenever the surface winds are gusting or variable and to 1000 feet AGL at all other times. Regards Stephen

November 14, 201411 yr Just purchased and installed Opus FSI, really impressed by this, i love it, Did not think this was going to be this good. A lot of buttons though, but very willing to learn.
November 14, 201411 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks, glad you like it. There are lots of weather options to set things manually for those who wish to but you can just stick to default settings. If you cruise below FL200 then just set your Destination, Max Cruise Altitude and enable Adjust Options Automatically. If you cruise over FL200 then set your Cruise Level to over 6000 to obtain GRIB data for upper winds and temps. Cheryl
November 14, 201411 yr Hello Cheryl Thanks for the reply. My main reason for getting Opus was for the camera views and all the other goodies that come with Opus. And yes I'm loving the thickness and different layers of clouds really impressive stuff didn't expect that at all. If I could be so cheeky and lazy and ask a question. I'm not into messing with all the different settings I just like plain old default. So let's just say I want to always fly in live weather, so I don't have to pick weather theme every time I fly. Do I just pick the "Opus weather" in the Prepar3d weather options? Or am I completly wrong? I done this last night and it gave me a mix of everything, very cool looking. I Presumed Opus was generating weather for my area with that setting. Kind Regars Elaine
November 14, 201411 yr Author Commercial Member You should never 'pick' any weather theme in FSX or P3D. Just follow the Recommended Practices for the weather engine and the weather will be updated by the software automatically or after you request it (when on the ground), normally after specifying your Destination and Max Cruise Altitude. So just leave the sim weather on custom, turn off all other sources of weather injection or control if you have them, including any of the FSUIPC4 weather related options. Make sure you read the Live Weather Engines Recommended Practices and away you go. You will know the weather is loaded and ok by examining the various on screen reports and LWA weather maps before flight. Stephen :-)
November 14, 201411 yr Hello Stephen, Thank you for your reply and all the information, i will certainly try that, looking forward to it. Kind Regard Elaine
November 14, 201411 yr Hi I tried the Opus FSI demo (I own Opus FSX) in Prepar3d 2.4. The panning live camera controls(green arrows) don't move the eyepoint. The eyepoint moves when I enter different values in their boxes but this is cumbersome Is there something I am doing wrong? Cheers Jay
November 15, 201411 yr Jay theres nothing wrong with it. I found you just have to create the panning sequence, then exit the panning dialog and re-enter it. when you go back in the live camera control moves the eyepoint just fine K Edit: Jay, I posted a link to your question at the Opus forum as well.. I've always had near instant replies from Stephen & Cheryl there.... http://www.simforums.com/forums/avsim-question_topic50645.html Kevin Firth - AMD 9800X3D; Asus Prime X670E; 64Gb Cas30 6000 DDR5; RTX5090; AutoFPS
November 15, 201411 yr Author Commercial Member I will investigate and include the fix in the next beta. Instant replies are not always possible (we might be travelling, out flying, sleeping, etc..) but we do get round to answering any posts asap. Stephen :-)
November 15, 201411 yr Author Commercial Member P.S. Very busy today and tomorrow so there might be a few delays in answering posts over this weekend. I will have a look at the software Monday morning and should be able to post a fix in a beta fairly soon after. Stephen :-)
