January 18, 201412 yr Ah, another post whose avatar has a certain elegance. Are you related to David Niven by any chance? In all seriousness though I have to agree. Even the OSM autogen is pretty horrible which is why I tend to stay in the naturally impressive areas rather than the cities. I know your passion for flightsim from when I was an FSX user over at the ORBX forums Howard, and think your passion over here would be a plus too but I wouldn't want to lie to you. The urban autogen is still crap, particularly if you're used to regional-specific autogen that FTX gives. On the other hand if you're happy with the countryside then XP10 really shines. David Niven? You cad sir! So here we go Stephen, you are now saying exactly the opposite to what others have said about OSM in XP! No wonder I find it difficult  HowardMSI Mag B650 Tomahawk MB, Ryzen7-7800X3D CPU@5ghz, Arctic AIO II 360 cooler, Nvidia RTX4090 GPU, 32gb DDR5@6000Mhz, SSD/2Tb+SSD/500Gb+OS, Corsair 1000W PSU, LG Ultragear 48"4K, MFG Crosswinds, TQ6 Throttle, Fulcrum One YokeMy FlightSim YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@skyhigh776
January 18, 201412 yr Moderator Hey, thanks guys. I really do think XP is just around the corner for me. I guess I'm just waiting to see what the forthcoming update will reveal. I think what I'll have to do is slowly make the move across as I have soooo much invested in FSX it's hard just to turn my back on it. Does anyone here run both FSX and XP on the same drive? I thought I recognised your picture from the ORBX forum and the recent run-in you had with JV over vector. I'm glad you're considering giving X-Plane a try now, and as others have said, you can't go wrong with OSM, HD Mesh v2, and some of the tubeliners appearing. I run both FSX/P3D and X-Plane on the same drive without any problems, in fact X-Plane completely installs into one single folder, so it's incredibly easy to move around. It used to sit on my desktop, till I simply moved the entire folder to an external drive, and it continues to run. Contrary to what seems popular belief, you don't need to uninstall FSX when you install X-Plane. The OSM scenery can seem confusing at first, so have a look at the FAQ I created here http://forum.avsim.net/topic/430976-scenery-and-openstreetmap-osm-faq/. Hopefully, it will make things clearer for you, and explain what you need and what to expect.
January 18, 201412 yr Howard, I feel like we have similar simulation desires. I only fly commercial airliners, and am a huge fan of anything PMDG, or any other study sim. I always held off on XP because of a lack of any true study sim. But then I found out about the IXEG 737 project, read their blogs and watched their YouTube videos. After that I purchased XP because once this aircraft is out, XP will have a true study sim...and it doesn't hurt that the 737-300 is one of my all time favorite airliners. United airlines in the battleship grey, and America West in their last livery, ahhh, I can't wait for this bird to come out haha
