Eaglesoftdg just announced the Citation XLS+ is their newest project

Recommended Posts

Many thanks for the patience Nathan. B)

Is there going to be an FS9 version of the XLS? I really don't want to deal with FSX unless somebody releases a Global or Gulfstream for it. Hahaha

Just what I was looking for and need Mad dog. I'm glad I posted my comments and thanks for the link. I've been learning to fly the CX by You tube videos, trial, and error. Fortunately I know how to disconect the FMS/AP and it hand flies beautifully.

I also have the CJ1 and CII. In my opinion all that is needed with these is cockpit graphics updating, so Ron I am glad to hear that this is planned for both of these.

Yet... people really don't seem to care that much about accuracy. I see Ray asking MilViz to do a Citation with a PL21 (not sure which airframe) but I'm assuming he's expecting MilViz to 'plug-n-play' their 350i PL21 gauges into a Cessna panel and *poof!*. That's not accurate, not even remotely... but he's willing to buy that?

At the same time... people don't like the VC model... so they won't purchase an addon. It really boggles my mind.

Well, Gregg pretty much gave the answer that I will, but... yeah.  Balance.

It also depends on how you define accuracy.  I'm willing to live with some planes of some types that don't offer 100% depth, depending on the systems and how much they'd impact my ability to simulate a start to finish flight in most conditions.  On the other hand, I want systems that are implemented to be accurate and work the way they should.  In other words, I'm sometimes willing to accept some compromises in depth, but not in accuracy.

But again, back to what Gregg said about balance.  While I value systems and procedures (and those addons that allow me to truly practice real-world procedures), I'm also unabashedly attempting to pretend I'm flying the real thing.  Anything that draws away from that is a negative as well - the old immersion thing.  Bottom line - I don't want cr*p in either visuals or systems and won't buy a plane that doesn't offer a good measure of both.  But I will compromise (based on "rules" even I can't always articulate) on both sides of the equation.

New news to me.  I am off the get the old book and learn to properly fly the v2.0 X.  I'm guessing most of that knowledge will be transferred to the new v3.0.  I know the real world X had some nice avionics improvements over the years.  Hard to believe the Citation X is almost 18 years old.  Arnold Palmer must really feel old.

Regards,

Ray

I think that pretty well sums up what I am looking for in a good add on also. I have the Volair Sim cockpit with the full complement of Saitek gear and there are a few recent flights the simulation closes in on reality. Or maybe as my old memory remembers that reality.

Nope, our focus is on FSX and P3Dv2. FS9 no longer supports what we are doing. B)

Guess I'll have to muck around with FSX then

Get the FSX Gold addition if we may suggest. It contains SP1/SP2 and Acceleration. Saves a lot of headaches.

Quite so. Unless the weather really sucks, I always hand fly SID's and STAR's, just need to watch power on the approach   B)

I've had it sitting on my shelf unopened for over two years. I'm too lazy (or scared) to install it. :D

I enjoyed the CX 2.0 but have stopped using a while back due to the navigraph/EFIS freezes. Did anything ever come of this? I had it with two cycles

Ryan, you really should visit sometime. http://www.eaglesoftdg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=602

There you have it folks, two experienced users who have integrity and knowledge confirming the issue with MFD freeze is NOT the CX2.0 but rather any/many other issues which can be and are the cause of MFD freeze issues.

We want to publically thank both Beechjet and Vincent for their efforts on everyones behalf.

It has to be something else causing it. I remember having that issue late last year before I re-installed FSX in preparation for the 777 (yes I know.....) and I have not had the issue since and since the 777 and the C X get 90% of my flight time, I figured an add-on screwed something up.

Chris read the thread link to our spot and you'll see exactly what the causes were...

As stated in the Eaglesoft link Ron provided, a number of us have discovered that MytrafficX version 5.4c has been causing FSX to crash with an ntdll.dll errors. This was happening with many other aircraft and not isolated to the Citation X. Burkhardt is aware of the issue but cannot duplicate it on his computer. Reverting back to version 5.4b solves the problem. Some have reported that keeping 5.4c and using the 2012 schedules instead of those from 2013 also solves it. I can say that I have been flying the Citation X with MytrafficX 5.4b and have not had an MFD freeze or any other issues. However, I just have the navigraph data that the X came with. I didn't see any reason to upgrade this if all the airport data in FSX was 2005 vintage. Hope this is helpful to someone.
