Eaglesoftdg just announced the Citation XLS+ is their newest project

With that being said, if it is NOT configured exactly how the manual I wrote, which was how Ed made it to be programmed, which was from the real world Citation as well as the POH, then you are going to have issues. It will crash every single time.

To be honest, I find that very surprising. In regard to the other add-ons I have, with very sophisticated FMC's, it matters not if I fail to follow the precise steps in regard to programing, they don't "crash every time". Don't mean to be rude, but I define that as unstable. One would hope a flight sim FMC was more stable than that. I'm sure we all accidentally fail to follow the precise steps from time to time. Sounds like walking on egg shells.

Not at all Martin. Operate it accurately as if you're in real world and nothing bad will occur.

We're NOT opening this subject to idle speculation.

If you own it good, if not, don't speculate about something you don't actually know or we'll ask for a lock.

That discussion was had and resolved years ago in our own forums and we'll NOT rehash it here.

With that being said can I get the mods to edit the email accordingly? Thanks.

Done! There is a 15 minute window for editing one's own post. After that, only a mod or admin account can edit.

I'm sure it's a superb product. I'm just looking at this from a potential purchasers viewpoint. I've considered the purchase of said product a number of times. So of course, when someone mentions that it has to be configured "exactly how it was written in the manual", or it will "crash every time", on an open forum, It's something I pay attention to and feel the need for clarification. Someone involved with the product mentioned it openly, so I presumed it was something I was free to query.

I guess it depends how you define configured exactly how the manual was written. So on that note, can you tell me, as a potential purchaser, what that means? If I don't follow the precise steps, in sequence, when programing the FMS, will it crash? Or am I confused as to what was meant by "configured"? I ask, because I've never come across that behaviour before, I've always had more latitude in regard to programming an FMC.

I've no wish to upset anyone, I'd just like to know, I was looking at Youtube videos this morning, with a view to purchase, hence my interest. If you don't wish to rehash it, and aren't prepared to enlighten someone who is bereft of any knowledge of this, can you point me in the direction of where I can garner further information?

I'm not a trouble maker, all I seek is more information.

I'm not the expert on this plane but at the moment flying seems fine I have no issues. In the past (at least two years ago) when it was installed the gauges would freeze after a little bit. Others had it too, and from reading around it seems to be related to Navigraph, third party AI programs, or just a general overloading of FSX.

For the FMS I've read the manual but I dare say I perfectly configure it everytime. Also I've never experienced a hard CTD from the plane - only freezes usually starring with the MFD.

Now that I'm using different Navigraph data my copy appears stable. I've done two long-ish flights (200 miles with a STAR) and no freezes.

I'm pretty confident you can not perfectly program the FMS without a crash - because I've done it. The thing just gives you an error on the screen. Not a FSX error but on the FMS. Example... I tried to use Direct To on one page and it rejected my input saying Invalid Direct To" (or something very similar).

That's just my experience with the plane. It handles extraordinarily well, great systems, pretty good frame rate, just a little flat looking VC, dated for today's FSX planes. A good choice as far as bizjets go and very quick of course. 30 day return policy from what I remember.

Still...protection against CTDs is something every programmer should do. Its about keeping things stable even if some ignorant user fails to follow instructions. He wont get where he wants to go but at least he doesn't have to restart the sim every time.

I went through the manual (the main and FMS only) to see if I was indeed doing everything correctly.  To my amazement I was programming the FMS exactly like the FMS quick setup guide... the universal is quite intuitive I will say.  And I'm doing another flight without freezes so far!

It's inappropriate for a commercial vendor to comment on another commercial vendor's product.

There is no 'universal' in the Citation X.... the CJ1 Eaglesoft released has the Universal FMS.

You have done this many times.  Reality XP / Mindstar discussions ring a bell?........

And some guy selling a manual now via this thread ...... cheapens the whole discussion IMHO..... but those of you happy to be sold to in that way, feel free to 'dislike' this post as you see fit....

Ah, I discussed what was asked of me, in a thread about my product... no more, no less. I did not wander into an RXP thread and state my opinion regarding RXP. There is a difference.

As for the manual, he stated in this thread he no longer gets paid for it. What's the issue again??

Martin, I apologize if I came on too strong on this issue. Let's start over because you can't know the chagrin we've been thru with folks who either post loosely or do not pay attention when we answer.

What Josh is saying is that we very much designed and coded for a distinct set of real world parameters because that is what asked by the community as a whole.

His words were to point out that following real procedures is the most trouble free method of operation of this title.

Just returned from my granddaughters third birthday party so have not read other responses but again allow me toput things right here if you please. B)

Jonathan, that doesn't happen...let it go.

Ok guys, I'm not willing to participate in a thread that's gone south.

We did not author this thread, we've participated as well as we can along the lines of information and clarification.

What began as XLS+ thread has now outlived it usefulness.

Those who wish to know about us and our products may register and login our forums for answers.

Firehawk, please lock this down.

Okay.  This one went South.  We were talking about the Citation and now we are bashing one another.  It doesn't get any worse than this.  Locked!
