January 27, 201412 yr So I have been having issues with my FSX. Many programs that apparently need Acceleration to run and I just have SP2 installed. Is there anyway to install Acceleration over SP2 or do I have to uninstall FSX completely and start from scratch? I have a ton of 3rd party scenery and aircraft and would like to not have to start that process over again IF possible. Josh Scholl
January 27, 201412 yr You should be able to just uninstall SP2 and then install Acceleration. Go to the windows control panel and look Microsoft Flight Simulator X Service Pack 2 and click Uninstall. Then go ahead and install Acceleration. EDIT: I don't expect Accel to alter your 3rd party programs, but you might want to back up your scenery.cfg file just to make sure your scenery libraries are preserved. If it wiped your scenery.cfg then you should be able to merge your entries back into the updated scenery.cfg. Best bet is to make a backup of your FSX root directory, your fsx.cfg directory and your scenery.cfg directory before installing the upgrade so you can merge any missing data back in. Barry Friedman
January 27, 201412 yr I am not sure if that will work with the installed addons. Removing the SPs and install Acceleration might mess up some addons (not sure if that really happens, but the risk is there) and you could end up reinstalling everything anyway. I clearly understand your problem, but hey, reinstalling is a nice thing to clean up your sim and maybe resolve one problem or another -_- Florian
January 27, 201412 yr Do not install SP2 and Acceleration. Total corruption. Acceleration was released LONG before SP2. They are NOT compatible. January 29, 201412 yr So should I install acceleration after I uninstall sp2 or keep sp2? Acceleration IS SP2 except SP2 is coded differently so that you cannot use the pay ware products that come in Acceleration. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! January 29, 201412 yr http://www.microsoft.com/Products/Games/FSInsider/downloads/Pages/SP2-EN-ReadMe.aspx You may want to review this before going ahead Ps Nick's guide suggest installing acceleration will install sp1 & sp2 automatically so do we need to uninstall sp1 as well before install accelaration. January 29, 201412 yr Ps Nick's guide suggest installing acceleration will install sp1 & sp2 automatically so do we need to uninstall sp1 as well before install accelaration. SP1 does not need to be uninstalled as it is included in Acceleration. SP2 is NOT included in Acceleration. It IS exactly the same as Acceleration except that SP2 was specially coded so you could not use the pay ware in Acceleration. SP2 was released a month or two after Acceleration was released. January 29, 201412 yr I have done this exact installation. As has already been stated, remove "Microsoft Flight Simulator X SP2" using control panel. It will leave the program "Microsoft Flight Simulator X". Reboot your computer and install the Acceleration CD. I had no issues with any add-on's, either scenery or aircraft. Hope this helps. Lyn
