February 7, 201412 yr Commercial Member Errr nothing even close to official in there dude, just rumour. Until there is some sort of official announcement, I can only assume there is currently "NO" NGX SP2 in development. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/394754-22dec12-development-cycle-updates/page-4?hl=%2Bsp2#entry2552028 http://forum.avsim.net/topic/395979-automatic-generator-online-feature-failed/?hl=%2Bsp2#entry2562398 http://forum.avsim.net/topic/364643-04mar12-sp1c-released-for-full-ngx-product-range/?hl=%2Bsp2 http://forum.avsim.net/topic/375922-general-update-on-in-development-products-04jun12/?hl=%2Bsp2 Kyle Rodgers
February 7, 201412 yr Author Thanks Kyle for digging up these threads but noticed most of them were from 2012 and one from Jan 2013 so would be nice with a more recent update what the schedule and plans are for the SP2. Hopefully someone from PMDG will comment on this and hopefully also be able to answer some of the latest questions such as the questions I asked regarding a wx radar and v/c shadows.
February 7, 201412 yr Commercial Member Thanks Kyle for digging up these threads but noticed most of them were from 2012 and one from Jan 2013 so would be nice with a more recent update what the schedule and plans are for the SP2. Those are just the first hits and they were not ordered by date. There are probably more recent posts. I used the search function. Everyone else can, too. Kyle Rodgers
February 7, 201412 yr Author Sure I could do a search and see what comes up but even more easy would it be if someone from PMDG could give us some info directly in this active thread at the very top of the NGX forum instead... Also to hopefully have answers to the latest questions asked such as the possibility of a wx radar now with ASN released (and Aerosoft already building their own wx radar since they discovered it indeed is possible to simulate a real wx radar) and also the addition of v/c shadows. Since they've previously stated that they won't include anything that would require users to purchase another product in order for a feature to be useful, my bet would be a resounding 'NO.' February 7, 201412 yr Author According to Aerosoft's latest findings everything needed to model a realistic wx radar already is within FSX and always have been and to get shadows in the v/c all you need to do is enable DX10 preview mode in FSX. Then having a good weather addon will of course give you better weather and having the DX10 Fixer might give you better looking shadows but you don't NEED to buy any other products to use these features should they be implemented. Also there are lots of products in this hobby that will be even better in combination with other products so to say without any exceptions that you will never release anything unless there's no other product that could further enhance your experience is a weird way looking at things IMHO. Well...still hoping we'll have some input straight from the source.
February 7, 201412 yr Commercial Member According to Aerosoft's latest findings everything needed to model a realistic wx radar already is within FSX Have you seen those pictures? Realistic in the sense that it determines precip. Hardly realistic in how that precip is created/displayed. Kyle Rodgers
February 7, 201412 yr Author So what you say here Kyle is that despite the technique now used in ASN and despite what Aerosoft found it's still impossible to simulate a realistic weather radar in FSX?
February 7, 201412 yr Commercial Member So what you say here Kyle is that despite the technique now used in ASN and despite what Aerosoft found it's still impossible to simulate a realistic weather radar in FSX? Did I say that? I don't recall saying that. I do recall saying that you should look at the pictures of what's currently out there. Those are clearly not on the level of aviation on-board radar. ASN is like ground based doppler at best (the built in one anyway), and the Aerosoft's is so low res that it wouldn't quite be useful...currently. Kyle Rodgers

February 9, 201412 yr What about the toolbox that comes with the DX10 Fixer? A developer from the Twin Otter Extended, said it was ok to add the vc shadows from there. But it can't be done with the 737? i9 RTX 4090 64gb ram
February 9, 201412 yr Author Unfortunately no, check this out http://forum.avsim.net/topic/434140-vc-shadows-in-the-ngx/
February 9, 201412 yr Unfortunately, I don't think we are going to see update for NGX ever. The job is too big to be released for free, and they said they will not charge for service pack.
