Yes, you can move the addons directly to your FS9, as well as the scenery.cfg.

If you have addon aircraft with load/fuel managers you might have a problem just moving the files. You may be able to fix by running a registry cleaner but I am not sure. Best to backup your aircraft.cfg file plus your texture folders for each addon. Then after a clean re-instal in the new directory you can copy over the aircraft.cfg and texture folders.

I uninstalled then reinstalled to the root drive (I think) still not loading although it shows to be running in the background on windows task manager! I tried loading active sky evolution but it alerted me to close down Fs9 before it could continue with a download of the current weather. Strange indeed.

When you uninstalled, did you uninstall all addons first ?  There is a seperate uninstaller for the 9.1 update, so I think its best to run that before uninstalling FS9.

Did you check for any left over folders?  Did you follow all the advice from Bernard (Leuen) above?

After an uninstal best to run a registry cleaner and restart your computer before comencing a new install

I didn't uninstall any addons, hoping that I might be able to move them into the new FS9 folder but I guess I am going to have to do a complete uninstall & reinstall to get FS9 working again.

I installed FS9 into the root directory and it didn't work. I will uninstall everything connected to FS9 & then reinstall FS9 to see if it will load. Thanks again.

Reinstalled several times but no dice! What is the best free registry cleaner to use? Thanks. Gary

I use CCleaner, but please  read the instructions carefully before you use and backup the registry beforehand....instructions in the manual.

You say you reinstalled several times but you are not giving enough information as to EXACTLY what you are doing, where you are installing to, and what folders you needed to manually delete after an uninstall. You will get more help if you provide as much information as possible.

I'm beginning to suspect that the problem may not necessarily be FS9, but maybe an OS or driver issue.  Have you done any updates to Win 7 recently?  I agree that we need more and specific information here as it seems there's something being missed.

Cheers.

Thanks for everyone's help!! I took the plunge and deleted all my addons and do a fresh install of FS9, things weren't going well as FS9 refused to load after about 5 reinstalls into the root directory. In the meantime I downloaded a files & registry clean up program and a short time ago I attempted to load FS9 and to my surprise it loaded!!! I have about 35 addons to go back in to FS9 in the coming days & probably weeks, now for a very important question for everyone. Should I keep FS9 in the root directory or should I move back into the default (x86) program files? The reason why I ask this is that I am worried that when I attempt to reinstall the addons something might not install properly. Thanks again to all
