March 14, 201412 yr Reports a US Airways A320 aborted take off at Philadelphia and overran the end of the ruway. Once off the runway the nose gear collapsed. No reports of injuries. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
March 14, 201412 yr It is amazing how high the rear exit chutes are when the nose gear collapses as it barely reaches the ground and increases the slope dramatically, also the number of injuries from that height and speed coming off it. I would probably want to wait and go out over the wing rather then jump out off the rear. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
March 14, 201412 yr Wow, this happened at my hometown airport. It was a very windy and cold day, but I'm not sure if the weather conditions contributed to the incident. Anyhow, looks like your garden variety aborted takeoff, except it overan the end of the runway. Looks like blown tires can complicate matters, and unlike an engine shutdown, things can get real screwy with the loss of control, and even the calculations done during preflight to account for the necessary margin of remaining runway can be thrown out the window (or runway) under such circumstances. I read on another forum about the dire consequences if this happened on a runway on the edge of a body of water, say, KSFO runway 1L/R. A.J. Domingo
March 15, 201412 yr Commercial Member The bigger story now is actually this... Kinda reminds me of the 'Blair Witch Project'... I'll giver her kudos though for not prefacing all those 'Oh my Gods' with a 'Like' B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
March 15, 201412 yr Good one Bryan. Amazing world we live in now, with Twitter, social media, and selfies, it's so easy to document every living second of your life for posterity. As much as I want to judge some of the people I see taking these selfies and other rather self absorbed videos, this is the world we live in and if I was the same age and all my peers were doing the same thing, odds are I would have shot a similar video myself. But I do think her still shot selfie plastered all over the net is a little too much, I maybe would have taken a normal camera shot without my face. Imagine if there were fatalities, it's just a little insensitive and pompous to try to score internet likes during an event like this. Anyone remember this little gem posted by one of Mitt Romney's sons after a car crash last november? A.J. Domingo
