March 25, 201412 yr @Jet one more (don't be angry  )... what do you have in "Maximum pre-rendered frames" in Inspector? - "3" - as in the How-to.doc or "Use 3D application settings"? Lukasz Trzaskowski
March 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member "Maximum pre-rendered frames" is under a question mark if you ask me. Also I think it depends on GPU. In my case on GTX 560, I set it to 1 to get smoother performance, I saw stutters with 3. But again, it's maybe a placebo effect. Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
March 25, 201412 yr @Pe11e Thanks. As I wrote earlier, one of my issues are stutters (and low VC fps in some cases) but I have set "Use 3D application settings". Besides, I have the same GPU ...so I'll start testing from "1" value. I hope that is proper way Lukasz Trzaskowski
March 25, 201412 yr It's very sad. Jet, are you able to answer for my 2 questions to Poul: 1. Does VSync 1/2 RefreshRate in Inspector is necessary? I don't fly in full screen mode. Besides, if I'm not wrong, VSync decreases frames...am I right? 2. Is it necessary to limit frames in FSX? When I do it in Inspector, I have few more frames (there is smoother). I'll be thankful. And what about with this: How it looks in your sim? Regards, Lucas Good Questions Lucas. I am just getting used to all the variables in the FSX.CFG -FIRST- and I do not know much about what the settings in the NVIDIA control panels really do yet. Especially not enough to really teach it yet. "Maximum pre-rendered frames" is under a question mark if you ask me. Also I think it depends on GPU. In my case on GTX 560, I set it to 1 to get smoother performance, I saw stutters with 3. But again, it's maybe a placebo effect. Hmmm. Interesting. Time to test that out. Pe11e when you tried that did you use a Konstant for a flight? (You know same plane, conditions etc)? After I upgraded my PC, from C2Q @ 3.5ghz to i7 3770k @ 4.5ghz, and complete and clean installs of Win7 and FSX, I realised that BUFFERPOOLS section is completely not mandatory at the moment. Completely smooth performance with the NGX and pay ware airports. So now I wonder what the BUFFERPOOLS section is all about, and I used it a lot. NICE! Yep. Some people do not need them at all. I'd say almost everyone with systems at yours or mine or better really do not need them as their set up is probably strong enough. Respectfully, Jet
March 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member Hmmm. Interesting. Time to test that out. Pe11e when you tried that did you use a Konstant for a flight? (You know same plane, conditions etc)? Yep, I always test performance with the same loaded situation. One thing I didn't mentioned, I run FSX with unlimited frames, so maybe maximum pre rendered frames works differently with locked frames @ 30? Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
March 26, 201412 yr COULD BE! I am testing some other items in FSX.CFG. But when I finish with that, I am interested in trying to see about my inspector settings as well. Respectfully, Jet
March 27, 201412 yr Quick spelling question as I've seen several variations throughout this thread and the guides: Is it 1. a [bUFFERPOOLS] (NickN; Word Not Allowed) b [bufferPools] (Avsim Guide) c [bufferpools] (NickN) 2. a Usepools=0 (NickN; Word Not Allowed) b UsePools=0 (Avsim Guide) or do all of those variations work?
March 27, 201412 yr @Chris Ad 2. I was not preciselly, sorry. I know that limit fps is necessary, but which way is better: in fsx options or via Inspector? Many people says: via fsx options.. but in my opinion via Inspector is smoother effect. Hi Lucass MY advise would be to use the Internal FSX limiter and use the FIBER_FRAME_TIME _FRACTION config entry to gain back some of the FPS lost. As i said this loss of FPS isn't a bug, its Time being given to the Rendering loop to render Textures. Is it 1. a [bUFFERPOOLS] (NickN; Word Not Allowed) b [bufferPools] (Avsim Guide) c [bufferpools] (NickN) 2. a Usepools=0 (NickN; Word Not Allowed) b UsePools=0 (Avsim Guide) Im not sure if the cfg entry is case sensitive, however mine are [bUFFERPOOLS] and Usepools Chris Warner PMDG : JS4100, MD-11, 737 NGX (Soon!)

I have mine at 5... Performance Is great. David Graham Google, Network+, Cisco CSE, Cisco Unity Support Specialist, A+, CCNA
March 28, 201412 yr Ive never noticed anything wrong with Case. [buFfErpOolS] <-- if you wanted the creepy Version. LOL Just kidding. Probably would work. I really do not think they are case sensitive. Respectfully, Jet
March 28, 201412 yr MY advise would be to use the Internal FSX limiter Evidently, on my system, far better when I set limit (30) in Inspector then in FSX - average 5 fps more. (I mean fps in VC of course) [and FFTF set on 0.12] Now, I'm going to start test with Bufferpools, because frames still drop in VC inflight in heavy rain and dense clouds. Lukasz Trzaskowski
March 30, 201412 yr Me again... I'm after some tests... Unfortunately, there are still low fps in VC in dense clouds, independently on PoolSize and RT values. I think that I have another issue, which is described here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/422104-please-try-this-when-you-have-low-fps-with-clouds-and-high-aa-settings/ Lukasz Trzaskowski
March 31, 201412 yr Help please, still have a problem with low fps in dense clouds :( I tried solution which described under link which I posted above, but still the same situation. I tried many variation of PoolSize and RT, even UsePools=0. Still the same... when I fly PMDG777 in dense clouds, frames are about 10-14. Ps. Is it normal when I set UsePools=0, GPU load was about only 30%? Look: Maybe it is due slow CPU? Anyway, maybe should I change something in Inspector or in FSX.CFG, but I don't know what exactly :( Let me allow paste Inspector settings: and CFG file: April 1, 201412 yr Well, Lucas I think you hit your MAX. I don't fly PMDG software, but I understand it is a monster of a program. You only have the 1GB GPU. There comes a time when we have to accept that we do not have a killer system. That said, you may want to lower your cloud texture settings in your weather generator. I had to with Active sky. Here is a tip. Make sure your cloud view range is set to the minimum as per the guides. Im talking in FSX. Then with you weather software set your max range just under that figure. What I did was in AS2012 I set max in flight visibility to 40 or something and I set max cloud draw distance in FSX to 60. THAT way AS2012 does not waste resources drawing clouds I don't need. ALSO and that said, Did you use Cloud CULL with the Fixer? Review your cloud settings in Fixer. IF you have done all that? The next fix is a brand new home build. You are done. Back off some sliders somewhere for your current system and setup. We have somewhat similar systems and for some aircraft I have to back off on settings. Traffic, Clouds, etc. Some aircraft I can run full sliders if you will. That is where (in my opinion) you are at sir! Take care and have fun. Hey. I gave your FSX.CFG a lookover one more time. ONE AT A TIME! Seriously. ONE AT A TIME, fix the following. And see if it helps. UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=0 When you limit the Frames in FSX you get this added to your config.sys. So it looks like you have your Framerate limiter in FSX set all the way left. Set it to 34 and leave it alone. For now. Go fly and test 1 or 2 flights. You should get a little better performance. FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.12 Bump this up to .20 and leave it alone for now. Go fly and test one or two flights. Again you should see a bump in performance. Don't be looking for a gazillion frame improvement but a moderate improvement 5 fps or so. TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=2048 Set this to 1024. In my opinion you system cannot handle 2048. In my opinion there is nothing to write home about going any higher than 1024. Lucas, Make sure you are setting things up ACCORDING to the guides and then test one by one. Bufferpools. Yes you can probably get away with no Bufferpools and give it all to the GPU. BUT you will be maxing your GPU which is FINE. If your machine works well with no bufferpools then don't use them. IF you do in fact decide to use them, go with a medium ratio of bufferpool size and RT. In other words Mid Sized Pool, Mid range RT. AFTER THAT If you still have the same problem. Again. You have reached your max for your system at this point and you need to start backing down and make adjustments in FSX. Have fun! Respectfully, Jet
April 1, 201412 yr That said, you may want to lower your cloud texture settings in your weather generator. I had to with Active sky. Here is a tip. What I did was in AS2012 I set max in flight visibility to 40 or something and I set max cloud draw distance in FSX to 60. THAT way AS2012 does not waste resources drawing clouds I don't need. Hmm, I thought that EVERY FSX weather settings are overriden by ActiveSky … I have set in ASN min. cloud redraw 90nm and max. 120nm – probably too high  ALSO and that said, Did you use Cloud CULL with the Fixer? Review your cloud settings in Fixer. Exactly…almost all options in Fixer I have default. As I remember well, Cloud Cull is unticked…so I have to change it. I think that I also have to tick DISCARD FOGGED – what do you think? (Ps. Jet, could you send me your Fixer settings?) When you limit the Frames in FSX you get this added to your config.sys. So it looks like you have your Framerate limiter in FSX set all the way left. Jet, I really don’t know why, but I have 3-5 fps more, when I limit frames in NI (look at my previous NI settings screenshot)… so I don’t udnerstand what is advantage of limiting frames in FSX then in NI  Bump this up to .20 and leave it alone for now. Go fly and test one or two flights. Again you should see a bump in performance. Don't be looking for a gazillion frame improvement but a moderate improvement 5 fps or so. I don’t expect this  … I only want to have not less then 20-22 fps in VC in dense clouds  . Ok., I’ll try raise FFTF. Set this to 1024. In my opinion you system cannot handle 2048. In my opinion there is nothing to write home about going any higher than 1024. I tried with TML=1024, but there wasn’t improve. BUFFERPOOLS: Yes, I think that better results are without [bUFFERPOOLS] section. Lukasz Trzaskowski
