April 1, 201412 yr BUFFERPOOLS:Yes, I think that better results are without [bUFFERPOOLS] section. You will always have BufferPools, if you put it in the fsx.cfg or not FSX will use the default BP, if you do not set it yourself. April 2, 201412 yr You will always have BufferPools, if you put it in the fsx.cfg or not FSX will use the default BP, if you do not set it yourself. Right. What we are talking about here is the use of further definition of bufferpools in efforts to share to some percentage (x) between the GPU and the CPU. Legacy Shader Balanced. General Shader Options Improved Shadows and Disable Shadow Fade in Poor Visibility both ticked. Bias (Small) 0.02 Bias (Large) 0.04 Reflective, Lights, Headlights are set to 6 Lights 2. Both Switchable. Progressive taxi ticked Water Fresnel Min 0.1 Fresnel Max 0.3 Night Sky Ref. Factor 3 Moon Ambient Light 3 Moon Phase Lighting ticked Rain Brightness 6 Cloud Clip Cloud Cull Both Ticked. Now all this is great but you may want to know something else. My Scenery Complexity is set to normal My Autogen is set to sparse. Water is set to Low 2.x I do not require all my sliders set to full. I fly high altitude almost ALL the time so high level clouds visability etc is what works for me. Since I use glass cockpit type aircraft I do not need a lot of low altitude scenery either as I am shooting instrument approaches a lot in heavy IFR. So Scenery for me is really good weather. These setting may not be good for you. Respectfully, Jet
March 3, 201511 yr Tell me about it! That 580 is a very good gpu, and will run UsePools=0 with that proc. all the way to 4.7 - 4.8 gig. The 780 will manage all the data we can throw at it, so let it manage the buffer creation and management - by using the "UsePools=0" and let FSX work on the rest. It will easily create hundreds of small dedicated buffers, thus giving FSX breathing time to do more. When using a beast like the 780 or the Titan - one will only need to look at UsePools=1 (and an RT) when the processor begins to get past the 5.0 gig mark - and maybe even higher. I've pushed into 5.1 gig, but have backed off, being nice and stable at 5. All the Best, pj hey i was wondering, when i usepools 0 i get extreme smoothness and the whole simulator seems like its flowing perfectly with no stutters but i get artifacts. And when i raise the water to high to get rid of them i lose frame rates and its not smooth anymore ?
March 10, 201511 yr Hey Guys, i got some new hardware and replaced my AMD FX8320 with an Intel i7-4790k. This is my first Intel CPU ever and I am really impressed by its speed. Due to the new Motherboard and CPU, I formatted my system and reinstalled everything, incl. FSX. On my old rig fsx was running in DX10 mode with steves dx10 fixer. it was not fast, but it was okay for me. However, since i do have a newer system I do have a lot of graphical issues which i don't know how to get rid of. I heard that it has to do with Bufferpools and DX 10. My first FSX.cfg tweaks were based on a video from Matt Davies (I'm pretty sure most of you guys know him from his youtube channel). The FPS increased rapidly, but since that day I have these graphic failures. I then had my fsx.cgf tweaked by venetubo and followed this guide:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/421849-dx10-fixer-atiamd-aa-and-vsync-guide/ These are the most important entries of my cfg, besides HIGHMEMFIX=1 and FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.25 below [JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=84 [bufferpools]BP=0PoolSize=8388608RejectThreshold=131072UsePools=1 [GRAPHICS]AC_SELF_SHADOW=1AIRCRAFT_REFLECTIONS=1AIRCRAFT_SHADOWS=0ALLOW_SHADER_30=1COCKPIT_HIGH_LOD=1D3D10=1DAY_THRESHOLD=38912DirtyRegionUpdateLimit=0EFFECTS_QUALITY=1ForceFullScreenVSync=1ForceWindowedVSync=1GROUND_SHADOWS=0HIGHMEMFIX=1IMAGE_QUALITY=0LANDING_LIGHTS=1MergeDirtyRegionUpdates=1MultiSampleQuality=0MultiSamplesPerPixel=8NIGHT_THRESHOLD=2048NUM_LIGHTS=8STALE_BUFFER_THRESHOLD=2147483647See_Self=1TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=2048TEXTURE_QUALITY=3Text_Scroll=1SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED_10=1693500672 The problems are still the same. Does anyone of you have an idea what is going wrong here? Any useful tip and help is appreciated, as this issue drives me crazy. My system specs: Intel i7-4790k OC 4,7GHz, AsRock Z97 Extreme 4, 16GB Kingston Savage DDR3 1600MHz RAM, XFX Radeon R9 290X Core Edition, 512GB SSD (Win 8.1 Pro & FSX) + some Seagate Barracuda HDDs Thank you very much in advance Regards from Germany Sven Sven Marburger
March 10, 201511 yr Commercial Member BP=0 UsePools=1 You can't have these two lines in the same time. Either it is bp=0 or usepools=1. To be or not to be. Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
March 10, 201511 yr ...and as far as i read, it's an AMD graphic card? That's not the best solution dealing with FSX. There are some topics in this forum and the Official DX10 Fixer forum dealing with FSX and graphic artifacts. Matthias Ryzen 9 7950X3D; MSI X670E; 48 GB DDR5 Ram; NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super 16 GB
March 10, 201511 yr Yes, in the meantime I read that, too. I just ordered an EVGA GTX 980 SuperClocked to replace my AMD graphic card. I hope that all problems will disappear then and that I don't need to upgrade my system for the next few hears. Thank you both for your advice! Sven Sven Marburger
March 11, 201511 yr GTX 980?! I have a GTX 580, i think i did something wrong when choosing my job ^_^ I hope everything will work with the NVIDIA card! Matthias Ryzen 9 7950X3D; MSI X670E; 48 GB DDR5 Ram; NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super 16 GB
