March 21, 201412 yr Hi, I never noticed before but my fps goes from 24-26 daytime to 32-33 dusk and night. You would think it would be the opposite because of the lights etc. Bob Officially retired
March 21, 201412 yr Yeah I have more at night definitely. I think it's rendering much less at night. I try to mainly fly at night because HDR is do shimmery at daytime. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

I was thinking of the most widely used phrase with fsx, that being: "Your experience may vary" LOL Good to know. I really do like the dusk/night look. I have installed the OSMhd v2 scenery, but waiting for a reply with a question I had about the scenery ini file and if I have the order correct. So I have been fooling with XP10 off and on for the last couple of days. I had dropped it for a couple of months and planned to come back when it appeared things were improving/progressing. I am very please dwith what I am seeing since the my last visit a couple of months ago. Bob Officially retired
March 21, 201412 yr Author Interesting, on my imac, my frame rate is less at night compared to daytime. Well, I thought I was on to something. Really strange. Why would 2 of us (so far) see an improvement in frames and you see the opposite. Where is the logic? Bob or left or right from VC Hi, I do not understand your statement. March 21, 201412 yr The logic is that you have different systems, different rendering settings, different aircraft, different scenery, different OS, different area to fly in, different plugins/addons installed... This is no base for conclusions at all. Flo Flo B.

My rendering settings, my aircraft, my scenery, the area in which I fly does not change when I move from day to night. I even went outside of the aircraft so there was no cockpit visuals which might affect the test. I think what might be helpful is someone who is familiar with the differences in what there may be between day and night textures. Maybe the trees use a lower resolution at night, just as an example. Higher frames at dusk/night is the complete opposite of any simulator I have ever used. Bob Officially retired
March 21, 201412 yr I remember Austin once saying, "if you don't see it, X-plane doesn't draw it", so maybe there is actually less being rendered, both on the land and in the sky.

That was my logical conclusion. Reduced texture quality or something but I am not imagining it. It is happening and there is a reason why. I have last weeks recording of the "Cosmos", maybe I will find the answer there  Officially retired
