March 28, 201412 yr Beautiful airplane and livery! What's that alarm?......... Oh yeah, forgot to lower the landing gear lol Strong winds on final Almost there..... A little late on touchdown. Made it just before the end of runway threshold Thanks for viewing. Nature Boy
March 28, 201412 yr I love the 727. Haven't you taken some cockpit shots too? Jaime Beneyto My real life aviation and flight simulation videos [English and Spanish] System: i9 9900k OC 5.0 GHz | RTX 2080 Super | 32GB DDR4 3200MHz | Asus Z390-F
March 28, 201412 yr Author This is the captain sim 727 for FS9 that you bought a few days ago right? Yup. I'm really enjoying this add on. I already have the DF version, but this one is so much easier when I just want to hop in and fly. I love the external model too! *edit* Ha ha. I just noticed this is my 727th post lol. Nature Boy
March 28, 201412 yr I wouldn't think there would be a lot of differences, because both planes are Boeing 727 with VOR. Just starting up might be difference. Or maybe you don't have to calculate as much on CS version? I sometimes wish I could fly simplified, I always have to calculate V speeds, cruise altitude, fuel, loads, then my route, start up the plane in 20 minutes, and finally... be in the air... But this is with Tu-154M, really complex plane. Didn't bother to do all this planning today so I skipped my flight.
March 28, 201412 yr Author I find the CS version to be less picky when it comes to V speeds. With the DF, I spend quite a bit of time with the v speed, trim, etc tables that were provided with the add on. With the CS, after doing some tests, it seems quite happy with Vr at 130-135k/flaps 15, and Vref around 130k/flaps 30. I also guesstimate take off trim. I've tested this with different load configurations and it has worked out for all of them so far. I pretty much go through phases with lite and complex add on. I find myself flying the less complex aircraft lately for some fun flights. When I have a lot of free time, I do enjoy the complexity of other add ons. TU-154M. Wow! I'm afraid to try a Russian jet at this point in time. All the switches, knobs, metric system, etc would be alien to me! I would have to at least know the basics of Russian alphabet. I'd love to see somebody do a high quality TU-204. Nature Boy
March 28, 201412 yr How do you fly the 727 in western airports? For me it's been quite troubling to fly classic plane (707s, 727s, Yak-40s, Tu-134s) into western European airports as many of the airports are turning RNAV only, which is just sad. All the time when I fly out of the CIS (former USSR) I have to use a retrofitted GPS which has a database of the SID/STARS for those airports as the VOR, RSBN (soviet VOR) and NVU navigation isn't really fit for those procedures. Vref , Vr, always depends on runway lenght, temperature, weights, fuel, it's so many calculations! Also during approach you have to calculate your touchdown speed. But this is much more rewarding than let's say a 777 or a 320. It's not that weird, you get used to Russian planes after a while when you know your plane. But your navigation system is so troublesome (even VOR is offset low quality), and the fact that you have to handle a 5 crew plane at the same time, is a little bit of the feel of a nagging woman. But I wouldn't think it's much different on a fully simulated 707. I wish for a Tu-204 too.
March 29, 201412 yr Author Thanks for the compliments, guys. How do you fly the 727 in western airports? For me it's been quite troubling to fly classic plane (707s, 727s, Yak-40s, Tu-134s) into western European airports as many of the airports are turning RNAV only, which is just sad. But I wouldn't think it's much different on a fully simulated 707. I wish for a Tu-204 too. I haven't run into any issues so far. Been doing most of my flying between Mardrid, Mallorca and Ibiza. I use the default flight planner and ATC. I think the default should be able to get you into any airport. I also use default flight plans and atc for PMDG. I've only used SID/STAR a few times during tutorials on more complex planes. I agree with what you've posted about V speeds. I remember getting frustrated a few times while flying the DF 727 when I accidentally looked up the wrong landing speed. I remember the plane just gliding 30ft over the rwy for what seemed like forever. I still made it safely, though it would have been a go around in real life. My fault for rushing, and not pausing while doing the pre-landing task of three men lol. The CS version for some reason just doesn't seem picky with take off and landing speed using the numbers I mentioned on my previous post. I've done about half a dozen take off and landings using those speed and it worked out very well. I don't think CS meant for this add on to be very in-depth. They didn't provide any tables or charts like DF did. The DF version also have a completely different feel to the controls and flight dynamics. Now, I've never flown a real airplane, but the DF does feel a lot more realistic than CS. I don't mind this at all with the CS because it's a lot of fun to fly. The only complaint, if I had any, would be that the trim is too sensitive. Ha ha, I like your analogy of Russian planes to the feel of a nagging woman. I think I'll try a Russian plane one day, when I'm ready. I'm a little too easy going lately with my flights, which is probably the equivalent of a lazy Sunday afternoon drive to enjoy the open scenery, grab some ice cream, and drive back home. Nature Boy
