July 26, 201411 yr Eric, You can use post 8 if your happy with CMD, they do the same thing or JLM if you prefer just back of course and you cant go wrong either way. This is the process for JLM Lets pick the ORBX folder as an example 1. back it up 2. delete the contents inside the ORBX folder but leave the empty folder where it is 3. copy your backed up folder to the new DRIVE (the original ORBX folder and its content) run Junction link magic and press the scan now tab now press the "create" tab 1. on the left hand side locate the ORBX folder (the empty one, step 2 above) and click it and you will see 2 green ticks appear 2. now go to the right hand side and locate the ORBX folder (the full one on your new DRIVE , step 3 above) and click it and then click the "create tab" 3. it will warn you that you may invert the files blah blah just click okay and your done! August 2, 201411 yr Enter mklink /J SimObjects C:\FS\FSX\SimObjects What does the J represent here? Mark
August 2, 201411 yr Hi, I think it represents junction. But I also believe that for the procedure to work some other software needs to be installed. I've since re-installed FSX on a larger SSD and when I tried to create a link it didn't work. It might not be new software but a windows setting but I haven't looked into it. I know when I initially configured it, things worked very well and it was so simple. That's probably why I don't recall the details. Jim F. Hey Mark, I did a quick Google search and saw this: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/16226/complete-guide-to-symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/ I think this is what I followed initially. Jim F.
August 2, 201411 yr Thanks Jim. The previous post shows the to link, but not the from link, hence my question. The link you provided explains all. I'm going to need this as I'm going to install some Orbx scenery (been a hardcore photoscenery guy for a long time) and don't have enough space on my SSD to house it all. Thanks, Mark
August 2, 201411 yr Hi Mark, Once you install the added stuff it's very easy to use. You might want to consider this. You want scenery to load as quickly as possible in FSX, allowing time for execution. I didn't get much further than, as the aircraft aren't selected when you're flying they would be something better to re-locate. Let me know how things work out and what you come up with. Good luck.
