April 29, 201412 yr I can't say that i really know what are the differences between running in normal 'Global', and when having the 'Hybrid' mode box clicked on. I did read somewhere, that if you want to run in a strict area not serviced by a regional add-on, that you should NOT have Hybrid clicked as active, or you lose some graphic elements. That is what I am asking...what exactly do you lose by HAVING 'Hybrid' mode as on, all the time...whether actually near a Regional bordering add-on area, or not? Can anybody help me to understand this? Thanks! Mitch
April 30, 201412 yr Author *Bump* Does nobody know either?!?!? What actually is the difference between the two modes, visually?!?
May 1, 201412 yr Author Wow..I guess this thread and pondered question is dead in the water...for NOBODY seems to know....(smile!).
May 1, 201412 yr Hi, As far as I am aware, using "Hybrid" in global takes the best bits out of regions and global, so to be used when flying into, and out of, a region. If you are flying out of, regions, ie. using just global on its own, then untick Hybrid to get the best out of global. Cheers, Mal Walsh

I was wondering just WHAT ORBX blends to come up with the 'hybrid'...but they do say that for the best usage of Global (outside or not adjacent to Regions) is to go un-click Hybrid, as you say. I have looked at an area with both hybrid on and off...and I guess it is a little too subtle for me to tell anything major between the two renderings.
May 1, 201412 yr Commercial Member Interesting, I have always had hybrid ticked (South UK) So I should only tick Hybrid when flying to the UK? Rob Prest
May 1, 201412 yr Hi Guys, I think the main difference with hybrid switched on is more noticed in the regions, some detail might be missing if you fly in a region with hybrid switched on. If you fly in a region and don't want to fly outside, just switch hybrid off. You only need hybrid switched on if you want to fly say from England to France etc. I mainly fly GA in the UK, so I just switch Central to Europe. Hope this helps, Cheers, Mal Walsh
May 4, 201412 yr You only need hybrid switched on if you want to fly say from England to France etc. I mainly fly GA in the UK, so I just switch Central to Europe I am not sure if that is correct - my impression was that if you were just flying from England to France then you would leave FTX Central on Europe but if you were flying between FTX Central regions, eg from Europe to North America then you should switch hybrid on. My apologies if I am wrong and I am open to correction if my assumption is incorrect!. Good thread by the way Mitch - curiously, nobody has yet really answered your question in detail about what changes occur when hybrid is activated, although, like Mal, I assume that some detail is dropped! I certainly don't know and, like you, I have not noticed a great difference between the two modes, so perhaps someone with more inside knowledge might be able to enlighten us if they read this? Kind regards, Bill
May 4, 201412 yr I remember John Venema talking about minor issues like fields going up mountains and incorrect roofs when Hybrid is ticked.
