KLGB Long Beach Airport ver4

Recommended Posts

I don't think it's the presence of FSDT KLAX.

On my rig the fps deteriorate. I sat on Ry 30 last night (was not paused) and was at 4.5 fps after an hour or so.

Vas usage also increased from around 700mb to 1400mb in that time period.

I run nvidia inspector profile - anyone else?

After installing KLGB (Fantastic Looking Work) my frame rate was 2.6 to 3.2. Made it interesting taxing and departing. Once I became airborne and a few miles out, FPS improved to 16. Note, I was also using MegaScenery Earth UltraRes LA & San Diego, MegaScenery Earth 2.0 California, FSDreamTeam KLAX, and Ultimate Terrain-X USA. While I usually do not get 30 FPS when I fly, I do average around 25 FPS.

I elected to disable EVERYTHING listed above with no real effect (about 2 FPS improvement). BTW, I also get the rapid flickering described previously in this thread when I use the TOP DOWN view while parked at KLGB.

I also run UTX USA - maybe a factor?

Ryan,

UTX is coming up as a constant in the negative feedback. I do not have UTX so will need someone to work on this.

I use that too but it doesnt seem to have any effect. Mine seem to drop the most when I activate Aerosofts city Los Angeles. Using KLGB and FSDT KLAX it seems to be ok. Lots of ground flickering though at KLGB. I have a lot of AI with HD textures. That could be adding to my issue.

I also have the severe FPS loss and ground flickering. Using FSDT KLAX, FTX Global/Vector. Not using Megascenery or UTX.

On my system the scenery uses about 700mb more VAS than default, which is probably normal.

Shez,

I have not tried your KLGB yet, but perhaps this will be helpful.  I have a different KLGB created by someone named Patel.  I use FSDT KLAX, Aerosoft Los Angeles, switch back and forth from time to time between Southern Calif Blue Sky and MSE2 Southern California ultrares.  I also use your KSNA (new).  I used to work near KLGB (Torrance) and commuted there from near KSNA, so with ultrares scenery I like to fly that area low and slow to sight see my old haunts.  I have always had frame rate issues in the area between KLGB, KTOA (Torrance), and KLAX.  And it is the only area I fly where I reach OOM consistently.  OOMs are rare for me outside that area.

I have that...no issues with framerates.

That could be from a multitude of things, fsx settings, other scenery, AI, etc.

Yeah, my point was that it seemed normal.  Some of the framerates I'm seeing from others would make me think that my settings would get hit too.  I have some of the same add-ons but not UTX.

I too have and use UTX. Not sure I need it with all the MSE2 that I have installed.

I made a short video showing the fps and the flashing textures.  It is lower quality but should be visible near the end of the video.

For a test I departed Shez's KSNA in the stock cessna.  Flew direct to KLGB.  I started with 60 fps at SNA, climbed to 100 fps en route, and dropped to about 12 as I left LGB on the NW side of the airport.

Additionally the VAS climbed enormously to 3GB (total FSX consumption).  It started around 1.5GB.

That's a good observation. This could be an issue here for some but why not others? I have frames running into upper 40s and 50s without AI and sliders basically all to the right. I do have a nicely tweaked computer with FTX Global, FS Genesis, FSDT LAX, and the KSNA scenery active too.

I am working with some users to see what we need to delayer to make this work.

I recognise that there are too many textures but the problem is some of the Add-ones like the people inside the terminals are third party and are not ideally optimised with countless textures. However the people are optimised with LOD tweaks to not appear unless viewed from very close near the terminal.

I have been doing some work on my laptop which is very much a mid range computer and a typical laptop GPU and the scenery is taxing. However, this setup is very much an un-tweaked one and low on optimisation. I do not get the flashing of ground textures though so that is still a mystery.

Unfortunately the more we remove from the scenery the more we will lose the immersive bits. Maybe I will release a lite version with just the terminal and very low levels of details.

Just bizarre that some have no issues.  Perhaps it's a video card VRAM issue?  I've only got 1.28GB on my once-powerful GTX570.

I was just about to post this thinking it was just me....

Yeah I'm losing a lot of performance.  16-19 fps in stock cessna (fps unlimited).  Obviously this is a beautiful custom airport but compared to my ADEX-based photoscenery KDLH airport I lose about 80% of my fps!

Looking into it further... fps degrade over time... and VAS rises - memory leak or something....

I'm running Acceleration, Win7 x64, I have FSDT KLAX with Shez' KSNA and KONT installed too.  No AI traffic.

This is exactly my experience.  When I first fire up a flight at KLGB even in the F1 Citation Mustang I get perfect frames ( 30 or so), but as time goes by (usually about 5 minutes or so) my frames go down to 8-10 even with default aircraft.
