June 7, 201412 yr This may not be a 777 issue at all, however, but I'm posting it here in the hopes that maybe someone has experienced it also. When I advance the throttles manually, they behave eratically although they go in the proper direction after some fiddling. It doesn't happen with the NGX or Majestic DH8. I've reprogrammed them in FSUIPC numerous times to no avail. Any Ideas? Ted Belden Ted Belden
June 7, 201412 yr PMDG does not recommend having FSUIPC control the throttles on the 777, which is mentioned in their intro document (I think that is the name of it). I'm not sure the reason behind it. I recently tried to "mess around" in FSUIPC to see if I could get it to work but had no luck. Chris K. Chris B. Trane
June 7, 201412 yr I've had the same problem but refuse to abandon FSUIPC as the means by which to calibrate and tweak my controllers. What's worked for me is to go ahead and use FSUIPC to assign my controllers to the 777's throttles but also assign them through FSX's controller settings as well. Just make sure there are no other conflicts with any of the other axes you may have assigned through FSUIPC. Seems to work fine for me and I no longer see any throttle anomalies while continuing to rely on FSUIPC. Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual
June 7, 201412 yr My Saiteks work just fine. I have the game controllers disabled in FSX settings. In FSUIPC I used the option....send to FS as normal axis..... I am not behind my PC now but it is called something like that. Anyway, the important thing is that the thrustlever (TL) are not CALIBRATED by FSUIPC this way. Only detected and then sent to FSX. Next important thing is under FSUIPC axis detection tab. You have moved one TL and then clicked send to FS as normal axis.... Now under the list of functions you want to assign to this TL, choose AXIS throttle set" NOT throttle 1 set, or throttle 2 set, but "AXIS throttle 1 set" found in the list under the A of Axis! that should then work. June 7, 201412 yr Wow...you guys should have posted in my topic in hardware/controllers Thanks for the background and I may have to fiddle around and see how much I screw it all up, which tends to happen when I'm in FSUIPC. Can you assign each engine to a throttle; i have 2 sets of saitek throttles? Chris B. Trane
June 7, 201412 yr Oh, so I'm not the only one having this issue. Weird thing is this started happening only after I upgraded my PC (changed mobo, processor, RAM memory sticks and SSD, but using the same FSUIPC version). Never happened in my previous machine. Using also Saitek's throttle quadrant, only way for me to solve it, as well as Wayne, was assign the axes in both FSX menu and FSUIPC. They work fine but still stutter a little after passing around 100% N1. Do you development guys have an idea of what might be causing this? What is actually weird is that I did not experience it at all in my old PC (2008-ish).
June 7, 201412 yr I had the same issue, all my throttles go through fsx now, much better. Everything else through fsuipc, just one of those things I guess Craig Theodore
June 8, 201412 yr eeehm......have any of you guys tried the method I described above? AXIS throttle set! That is what I use and works like a charm on two Saitek throttle quadrants. Rob Robson
June 8, 201412 yr Can you assign each engine to a throttle; i have 2 sets of saitek throttles? Yes. I have the controllers disabled in the FSX/settings/controls/calibration tab. This means all buttons and switches need to be set up in FSUIPC as well. I have the most left lever (lever 1) setup as spoiler. Even arming the spoilers for landing works! - on AXIS ASSIGNMENT tab: click "send direct to FSUIPC calibration" click the first white box to put a checkmark in it and choose "Spoilers" from the dropdown menu. - on JOYSTICK CALIBRATION tab: calibrate spoilers and click Rev. Lever 2: - AXIS ASSIGNMENT: Send to FS as normal axis click first white box to put checkmark inside and then choose "Axis Throttle 1 set" - do not do anything to the throttles on the Joystick Calibration Tab. This way the throttle is detected by FSUIPC and the signal is then send to FSX without calibration by FSUIPC. Do the same for lever 5, but choose "Axis throttle 2 set" Lever 3 and 4 are used for thrust reversers. - AXIS ASSIGNMENT: send direct to FSUIPC calibration click first white box and from the dropdown menu choose "Reverser 1" or "Reverser 2". - JOYSTICK CALIBRATION: calibrated the reversers on page 11 Ps. This is just the method I use, there may be other methods but I have tried quite a few and nothings works as good for me as this. Rob Robson
June 8, 201412 yr eeehm......have any of you guys tried the method I described above? AXIS throttle set! That is what I use and works like a charm on two Saitek throttle quadrants. I agree Rob, I also have everything disabled in the sim and all my controls exclusively via fsuipc. The method you describe is what I used for the 777 and worked perfectly. June 8, 201412 yr I agree Rob, I also have everything disabled in the sim and all my controls exclusively via fsuipc. The method you describe is what I used for the 777 and worked perfectly. thx for confirming that! Rob Robson
June 8, 201412 yr Hi Rob, Thanks for the thorough explanation. I have everything routed through FSUIPC except for my throttles, so this is good news. Chris K. Chris B. Trane
June 8, 201412 yr I wonder if the pots need to be cleaned out. I am researching into my Saitek X52 stick. It sometimes has some spikes. I have seen youtube videos of how to clean out other flight sticks. Jared Shipley
June 8, 201412 yr I wonder if the pots need to be cleaned out. I am researching into my Saitek X52 stick. It sometimes has some spikes. I have seen youtube videos of how to clean out other flight sticks. Jared Shipley That is possible. One of my Saitek levers does not work anymore either (the most right one of 6 levers that I wanted to use for flaps). Probably dust or just cheap pot meters that wear out quick). The Saitek TL are quite cheap though so not worth repairing in my opinion. What you can also try, is the FSUIPC spyke illimination feature! I think it is on the General Tab....just put a checkmark there and see what happens. Hi Rob, Thanks for the thorough explanation. I have everything routed through FSUIPC except for my throttles, so this is good news. Chris K. you are welcome. Let us know how you are getting along and if you need any more help (not that I am some FSUIPC specialist, but I am sure we can get things working). Rob Robson
