  1. I agree. Airbus was looking at bigger airframes, ie the 380. Only when the market started to demand "smaller" aircraft that could fly long range and frequent flights like the 787, did they look into the 350. In the end I believe that the 777x will be a success. The airlines will not have to retrain their flight crews and maintanence, if they all ready have the 777 in their fleets. They will gain more fuel efficient aircraft and hopefully new technology added to the airframe. Competition is good for the marketplace. I look forward to see what is developed in the next few decades from Airbus and Boeing. Break out the popcorn. Jared Shipley
  2. The airline I work for as a mechanic is Delta. We wanted the B787-900, but couldn't get a faster slot, because of the backlog of orders. Boeing even offered us to use the 777-200 as an temperary aircraft until we received the B787. Of course we didn't want to train crews for the 777 and then have to move them to the 787 a few years later. An airline in the middle east cancel 70 A750, so airbus offered us a faster delivery time, to cover the slots. Delta will do both buy and lease aircraft, just depends on how long we will use them. Jared Shipley P.S. Know any MD-88 that are for sell. We will buy any airframe, even if just for parts. LOL
  3. Why buy the original 777 when you can wait some years and buy the 777x version. It would be like buying a brand new, not fuel efficient car in December and not waiting to get the new fuel efficient car in January. Jared Shipley
  4. I wonder if the pots need to be cleaned out. I am researching into my Saitek X52 stick. It sometimes has some spikes. I have seen youtube videos of how to clean out other flight sticks. Jared Shipley

One more thing if you decide to buy it, the store has you download the 1.5 version. There is a 1.7 version out there, just search for the update. Jared Shipley

I use for the 777 and 737. I stopped using TrackIR all the time, instead I use ezdock. It makes it easier looking at the cdu, turning knobs, etc then have to hold you head still or hit pause. Jared Shipley
  7. I think that this simulator is a very good procedural simulator, but as others have pointed out is the lack of motion. I have flown in a level d simulator and there is a big difference. I have spent several hours in them for taxi and run training. The motion, level of detail, accuracy, etc are hard to beat. I have also had several times that I have flown in the jump set for check flights. I work all day on the Airbus and Boeing aircraft and having done operational checks, there still is a lot of things that are missing from the computer simulator. Just remember how much a computer simulator and a certified Level D simulator costs. With that said I get a lot of bang for my buck, with PMDG aircraft. Jared Shipley
  8. EZdok IMHO I like this over TrackIR5. Jared Shipley

Here is a link to another post on how to use FSUIPC to show free VAS. See post number 4 for the procedure, very easy. I use the title bar to display the memory left. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/426462-process-explore-vas-usage-bar/ I am still trying to figure out how to get FSUIPC to give a warning, when I get low VAS. 10. I did search the forum and here is the link for the Microsoft patch. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947246 Jared Shipley
  11. I wish I could find the FAA study online. There is more tire wear from braking, then from the touch down. You should see the tire wear from an a/c hydroplaning down the runway. All the tires have looked like it melted. Besides, that is just one more thing to break. Jared Shipley
  12. I have a dual boot system setup. One hard drive is Windows 8 64bit and the other has Windows 7 32 bit. It has been seven weeks since I logged into windows 8. Why, because I am finding problems with older programs running on windows 8. Desktop computers are going to be here for a long time, in one form or another. It is hard to bet using the keyboard and mouse for data entry. Can you imagine trying to type up a big report on only a tablet. It maybe done, but not the fastest way to do it. You know how sore you arms would be, if you were using a touch screen all day. A one size fits all are hard to come by in the computer technology field. A core program that has different user interface for different devices, would have been better. A metro UI for touchscreen and a start up menu for the desktops and laptops. In the end a little bit more time and energy into product research and development, would have avoided this problem. Jared Shipley
  13. Are you using any other third party programs. If you look on the internet for simconnect.dll problems, you may find a fix for it. Look in the crash report to see what module is faulting. Also when I speed up I only fly 4x when I am at level flight. I fly normal time for climb, descents, and when I am saving the situation. I also save every 30 minutes, when I fly 4x. That way I don't loose all my flight time, when it crashes. Jared S.
  14. I am planning a long haul at 4x. Delta Flight 200 KATL to FAOR, 15 hours long. I will be looking for a Delta livery. Jared S.
  15. Jim, I had the same problem as you with Windows 8 64 bit. Read this thread http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-gaming/flight-simulator-x-crashing-after-win8-install/adc36974-f0af-43bd-ab47-a663f469e607 http://forums1.avsim.net/topic/273341-heres-the-apparent-fix-to-fsx-crashing-win-7-x64/ I had no luck, but some have. I ultimately installed a dual os, with one being windows 8 64 bit and the other windows 7 32 bit. Try to read the error report. Post a screen shot. Jared Shipley
