June 7, 201411 yr I am trying to mimic a real world tubeliner flight from KSFO to KLAX, so I looked it up on flightaware.com and found this KSFO PORTE5 AVE SADDE6 KLAX Let me know if this is correct. PORTE5 = SID AVE = AIRWAY SADDE6 = STAR I am trying to figure out how to input this into the FMS on the 777. Not sure how to select the runway or or transition for the SID/STAR so that it properly puts them into my FMC correctly so I can fly the route. June 7, 201411 yr No. The route is short, and where the departure ends - arrival begins, so no airways on that route (In USA airways are designated as V for victor and J for jet routes followed by numbers). AVE is the waypoint (NAVAID - VOR) you end up when you finish departure PORTE5 and transition .AVE, so that's named PORTE5.AVE departure. At the AVE you begin transition for SADDE6 arrival for KLAX. Combined, that's AVE.SADDE6 arrival. After that you need to pass through transition for approach which is provided by ATC vectors so in simulator you are left on your own at that point. So how this is done in Boeing FMC: 1.Go to RTE page and enter origin and destination airports (KSFO and KLAX) 2.Go to DEP/APP page, go to KSFO departures, select runway at the left side, then select PORTE5 departure at the left side, and the select AVE transition at the left side, bellow PORTE5. 3.Go back to RTE (route) page and go to page 2. You will see that at the top left side PORTE5.AVE is entered as an airway, and at the top right side, AVE is entered as a waypopint. 3.Go back to DEP/APP page, go to KLAX approaches, select SADDE6 at the left side of screen, then select AVE transition at the left side bellow the SADDE6, and the you can select runway and runway transition at the right side. 4.Go back to RTE (route), to page two, and check that second airway is set as AVE.SADDE6, and at the left side second waypoint is JAVSI. 5.Activate the route, and close approach transition discontinuance in legs page of FMC. June 7, 201411 yr Author thanks that helps a lot!!!! now how do I know what to enter for the flight level and how much fuel to load in kg? I have my 777-300 set to 200 passengers and 3000kg of cargo, fuel i currently have 40kg with 0kg for reserves, will this be enough for me to make it to KLAX? Also on the thrust limit page, what do i put for the temperature on the left side> it says OAT 15 degrees C, so should i just use that? And also for flaps for the takeoff page, i've been using 15, is that okay? Appreciate your help! June 7, 201411 yr Browse some Youtube video's mate.. They're quite handy in getting to learn a FMC Cheers Josh Cliff
June 7, 201411 yr I use simroutes.com. Copy and paste the route from flightaware except for the sid and star into simroutes and you have the option to download it as a rte for PMDG or pln for FSX. Gnacino
June 7, 201411 yr He flies X-plane 777. @Aaron, you should look at the flight manual, it's not something I can explain in few words. Just to answer your questions: 40kg of fuel is not enough even for taxi, there should be few tones. You can use simbrief or PFPX, or some other planning software to calculate fuel, flight level and other things. For that ~300nm route, you can climb almost any level, so it's your choice. That temperature is assumed take off temperature, you can enter value if you want to reduce thrust at take off run, but I wouldn't recommend you to do that if you do not know what are you doing, just select derate 2 and you are ready to go. Flaps 5 is standard take off flaps. Are you sure that, you see in aircraft, is 40kg and not 40t of fuel? Gnacino I do the same but with Simbrief. It's easier for me to just load the CO routes. Maybe less realistic, but, oh well! Regards, Jeremy Chesney

June 7, 201411 yr Author Okay i don't know why it keeps saying perf /vnav unavailable. I've entered in everything that was required in those empty square boxes. June 7, 201411 yr I'm not sure, it's hard to assess the situation from my PC. I suggest you to watch some YT tutorial and examine what you're doing wrong. Lj. Prodanovic
June 7, 201411 yr When you load the route into your fmc's flight plans, you then could use CO Routes. To captain 420, try using Fuel Planner. Its a free thing that gets you approx. the right amount of fuel based on your route. Gnacino
