Thanks for the comments .

After posting the last shots " found " a low resolution picture of Alan Deere's " original " aircraft EN568 , so will also be making this . By this time he was promoted to Group Captain .

By adding some small details as seen above I am also making new bump maps which also means new speculars as well .

Here are 3 progress shots of the new bump maps . Also added tread to the tyres ( still too dark ) .

Here are some progress shots of MK732 ( through the years ) . Bump / normal maps and some small details have been altered . One small disappointment though : After finding some decent photo's showing the sencilling , I discovered that there are mirrored textures in the model , even though the text is hardly readable I know it's mirrored , so decided not to place any stencilling in those areas .

Beautiful shots (and paints) of Spits. I just recently acquired RealAir's Spitfire Mk IX and XIV for FSX and am enjoying the sim-flights immensely.

My father was a Spit pilot in the RCAF serving in 441 Squadron toward the end of the war and when disbanded in 1945 joined 443 Squadron serving with the British Air Forces of Occupation in Europe. He flew a Spit V then IX and finally a Spit XIV (I think) with 443.

When I was a kid he never talked much about the war, till later years, but when he saw picture of a Spit he would often comment on just how beautiful they were - both to look at and fly. Spitfire's at airshows were at must see.

He has long since passed but there a few snaps of him in a Fairey Battle (a trainer), an airfield (somewhere) in GB or Europe showing Spits on a field and some other memorabilia.

I have included a link to a short video I created with the RealAir Spifire Mk IX  at CNL3 for FSX. I think it conveys to some degree this classic bird.

Enjoy and thanks for the pics they inspired me to buy a really great FSX add-on.

Better flying than me , I just paint them !

Had some computer problems this last week but after seeing a MkIX that is currently up for sale ( $1.5m ) , started to do some research . MH415 ( N415MH ) served in the RAF , RNLAF , BAF and COGEA Nouvelle as a target tug and also starred in " The Longest Day " and " Battle of Britain " . In the " Battle of Britain " MH415 had quite a few " identities " one of them being AI A ( fictional squadron code ) , the  " personal " aircraft of Squadron Leader Skipper ( Robert Shaw ) .

For the purists of course will not be the " correct " type as I cannot remove the cannon or change the propellor ( which is what they did during the making of the film ) .

Currently having fun aligning the squadron codes on the several parts in the paintkit . Will post screenshots later .

Spitfire MkIX MH415 served in the Royal Air Force , Netherlands and Belgian Air Forces and starred in 2 films , namely " The Longest Day " and " Battle of Britain " . Aircraft is currently for sale for a " measly " 1.5 million ( pounds ) after being stored in a barn since 1973 . One of the few airworthy Spitfires used in the film and had at least 8 different squadron codes ( shown below ) . First it's current markings of 222 Squadron RAF ZD E and the last three screens are a montage of the 8 codes .
